It''s on hold for me for 24 hrs!

Thoughts on this stone in a white gold bezel?

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-292668.htm#

My original plan was to go for something very small, diamond by the yard style and spend about $500. Now I''m thinking that I should pay a little more to get something a little bigger, which would be more noticeable and more versatile. My earrings are .34 each and my e-ring is just over a carat. This pendant stone is .40 which I hope will be in nice proportion.

My e-ring is in a 4 prong trellis and my earrings are in 3 prong martini. Usually I like things to match, but I love bezel pendants. Does anyone think I should do a pronged setting to be more consistent?

It doesn't have to be matchy matchy. My earrings have tiny prongs but has a circle of metal around the prongs giving an illusion of a bezel, my e-ring has prongs but my pendant is bezeled. Do as you like. I think your choice of stone and design is great!

Or maybe I'm biased because I have a bezeled pendant too.

It looks like a great stone. I don''t think you need to do a pronged version, I think it will look fine with your earrings.

I thinks it''s a beautiful stone! Go for it!

Nice choice!!!

The diamond you selected looks great! I don''t think you have to get a pronged setting for your necklace to match. If you love bezel pendants, go with that setting! It''ll look great with your diamond studs and erring. Can''t wait to see pictures!

Thanks a lot for the votes of confidence so far! I think I''ll go for it tomorrow. Bob at WF has been great to work with as usual.

I have to decide the length of the chain. Most of my favorite necklaces are 18 inches. (Pearl strand, and heart pendant.) I think it''s possible I''d want the pendant higher, but not sure. I may have a larger than average neck. The WF pendant comes standard with 16 inches. They can make it longer for a nominal charge and can even add jump rings, but this is considered a custom modification. Thus if I had to return the pendant I''d have a $50 restocking fee. I''d like to avoid this. It''s unlikely but possible that I''d need to return the pendant. After all I''ve never seen a J color stone in person and I want to make sure the pendant does not flip. I know if I was facing a $50 restock fee I''d be more likely to keep the pendant even if I was not 100% satisfied.

Bob suggests going with the 16 inch chain and then, if it''s not long enough, getting an extendor. What do you all think?

OK, I ordered it! Went to try some on in person today, and decided 16 inch chain was a tad short, 18 a tad long, so I ordered 17 inches. Yay!

Funny how a $200 initial budget turned into a $700 purchase. Hmm...

17 inches sounds perfect!! Please come back with some pics, it''s going to be lovely!

Sounds great. My favorite necklace is on a 17" Plat chain. Falls at exactly the right place for many of my clothes. I agree, 16" looks too short, and 18" is a bit long for a small pendant.

Looking forward to neck shots.

Excellent choice! Saw that stone a week or two ago and wanted it myself, even though I have absolutely NO need for it!

LOL - it's a sickness.

Can't wait to see your pics!

hi again! Believe it or not, my husband says maybe I should spend a little more and get a bigger diamond? This is perhaps unprecedented on his part! if I spend $1000 (as a repeat customer) I would get $100 off. So I was just looking to see what kind of diamonds are available at WF in the $800 range (which, plus the setting, gets me over $1000). Yet, I didn''t see anything that much bigger than what I picked. i saw some with better color and clarity, but nothing significantly bigger unless I was willing to spend a lot more.

Anyone see anything I should look at in the $800 range? I haven''t finalized my choice w/ WF just yet.

I really think 40 points is a good size and I think in a bezel, J should be fine... and I don''t care about clarity if it''s eye clean. So I''m thinking I''ll stay with my orig choice.....

No, the only thing I see is a point bigger. I say get that one, and ask him if you can put the extra towards xmas.

That''s a great idea!

So you don''t think it''s worth spending more for better color? I''m a little nervous, not having seen a J before in person, but my other diamonds are H and I and they don''t bug me a bit!

ooooo, beautiful! I can''t wait to see it

hi Skippy! Welcome back!!!!

Thanks so much for your help the other week while I was deciding about what pendant to buy. I loved the Costco pendant, but I decided to go with WF because the price is similar and I can actually get a bigger diamond (due to lower color and clarity) and can have the option to upgrade. I think the Costco pendant is also an excellent choice and I am really thankful for your photos and all the great information - it was really helpful in making the decision!

No, taking that into consideration, I think you''ll be fine.

hi everyone!

I will have bezel pics for you all by the end of the week if all goes as planned! I know this is nitpicky, but I haven't faxed in my final confirmation of order yet with WF and I'm second guessing my chain length choice. I got to try on some actual bezel pendants today. Wish I had been able to take pics but I don't think that would have gone over well at all! I am so glad I found WF and pricescope - I can't believe what the mall stores charge for visibly included diamonds.... anyway...

18 inches is too long. The chain comes to a V point and the diamond flips around. It didn't look right at all.

16 inches they didn't have but I held the 18 inch one to make it seem like 16. I liked it a lot. The diamond sat right in that little hollow under the neck - clavicle?? But I REALLY hate things being too tight around my neck, plus being a tall girl (5'9) I didn't want it to look like the wrong size. I remember one time I was going to buy a necklace at Tiffany that was 16 inches and I didn't get it b/c it felt too tight. But DH said he thought the 16 inch chain for the bezel looked perfect and he thought I should get that length. Also, the pendant itself will add a small amount to the total length because there would be 8 inches of pendant split on either side, instead of the pendant dangling from a regular chain.

So do I stick with my choice of 17 inches or go 16? I really want to get this right and avoid having to send it back!!! (Since this is a fixed bezel, it would be more complicated than just swapping the chain.)

Thanks for any and all opinions - including the opinion that I am overanalyzing this!! :)

Thanks Ellen! Today I tried on some uncerted "H-I" diamonds in bezels and I didn''t think they were yellow at all. So, I feel even better about the certed J. I cannot wait to see it!!!! Thanks for all your help as always.

I like 17" length necklaces; not too short, not too long.

Could you have it made 16" and get a 1" extender chain? Hmmm..that might now work with it being bezel-set, though. It wouldn''t be straight in the back, but perhaps that would be hidden?

Gail,
I was thinking about your new pendant. . . do you have it??? I can''t wait to see it!!

bump for gail
