It is hard to tell what a fancy cut (like an oval) will look like without seeing it in person. What is the spread like? The millimeter measurements should tell you whether it will face up much smaller than the other one you saw. Also, please find out from the seller whether the stone has a bowtie, which is a dark area in the middle of the oval that will look "dead" in many lights.Date: 4/19/2009 9:22:13 PM

Well I have been talking with the designer and decided not to go with the 1.72 carat stone because of the color. He gave me the specs on this stone to go in the ring... what do you all think about it?

It is a smaller stone- but better quality than the last. The picture I posted is not of the actual ring- it is just the picture of the design. Also, do you think a 1.5 carat will look much smaller than a 1.7?? Thanks for all of your input.
