Hello Everyone!

I really love fancy colored diamonds, and have been looking to do a little project with some for a while. I found
a set of yellow and pink diamonds on Leibish and was wondering if you could offer your opinions on them? They're quite small, but I love the color! Thanks so much in advance!!

I don't know how much you paid, but if they were reasonable, I think they're okay. They're graded in house, and so they could have brown modifiers which renders them far less expensive than other fancy pinks.

ETA: I see they're fancy brownish pinks, so don't expect popping pink color.

They are gorgeous! I think I see some orange in the pink diamonds, but that doesn't take anything away from their beauty. Are you planning on making a ring out of them?

Thank you so much for your reply! I have not yet purchased them, but actually placed them on reserve. I would definitely continue looking if these don't seem up to par, this is a very special project for my fiance, so I want them to be extra special :naughty: .

They come in at approx. $900, do you feel like that's a reasonable price? Thanks again!! I'm trying to educate myself more on fancy colored diamonds, so I really appreciate any commentary I receive back!

Thank you MIkla, yes- a very special and interesting custom ring!!

I think it's a fair price.

Thanks TL!!

My only hesitation is that in real life they will be tiny. I'm not sure what design you had in mind but it may/may not work. The ring will certainly have presence because of the colour but it will be small and you may want to bear that in mind.

Unless you have a very discriminating eye (and many on this forum DO) and put it next to a pure pink it's not easy to see the brown in some brownish pinks but the price is soooooooo much nicer.

I don't blame anyone for going with other gems where you can get a much larger stone for the same price.
But other gems can't do what diamonds can do with light.

Yes these will be small but, unless you're Oprah, anyone entering the FCD sandbox quickly learns they will be getting points not carats.
If you think about it, it's much like white diamonds in that $1000 you can get a huge fake but only a tiny real diamond.
. . . but it BEING real is the whole point so you don't mind that your REAL diamond is not large; it's real.

Similarly, with FCDs the color itself you are paying for.
I have a dozen tiny FCDs and frankly the smallest one, an 8-pointer, is my near-favorite.

IMNO, when the color's good FCDs being small is part of their charm.
Think of the best cheesecake you ever had in your life; 80% of the pleasure is in that first little taste.
Sure I wish the average weight of the FCDs in my collection was 2.2 ct not 0.22 ct but I think I'm getting 80% of the enjoyment for 20% of the price. (The Pareto principle)

Oh, also FWIW I bought 20 FCDs from Leibish and am a photographer and I can testify that their photography is very true to life.

I can dig Kenny's (& obviously your) viewpoint. Makes sense -- buy what you love, in whatever size you can afford. Those diamonds are really pretty together -- if anyone had asked first, I would've said, Eeeuw, but they're great & should make a truly eye-catching & unique ring. Post pics when it's done, please!

I think they're quite pretty, but at that size, it might be difficult to see the graduation in sizes from arm length.
