It would be a very classic ring - but have you thought about losing the size that the halo gives you?

That’s what I’m slightly worried about, but I was hoping the side stones would make up for it.

My recommendation would be to order a cheap fake off Amazon or eBay and see if you like the style. I only say this because I was in your position when upgrading my diamond and I loved the round with pear sides on others but on me it wasn’t great. In hindsight, I’m so glad I spent a small amount finding that out. If you’ve already tried the style and love it, then go for it!

I really love the idea of the round (no halo) with those side stones! Very pretty!

Thank you for all your replies! I saw a setting on a website I love, so I think we are going to take inspiration from it but change it Slightly as I want the hidden halo on the side stones as well. I love how the 2 tone is executed.

Have you tried printing out the picture and cutting out all the stones and taping them together how they
would be set. That way you can see it without the halo. I'm wondering if you might want to go slightly
bigger on the pears?

Are the pears .5ct each, or in total?

The pears are .50ct each, I saw a few similar rings on here which had a 3ct center and .50 side stones which is where I got the inspiration!

This is a really good idea! I will do that. I was wondering the same thing but most 3 stones with pears I have seen on here have around .50ct stones I think it may be the halo throwing it off?

I like these pears and think the proportions will be better once you remove the halo. As is, I think they're a tad small, but - without the halo - they should be perfect.

I'm currently putting together a smaller, more casual ring - 1.5ct with 2 x .25 pears - so, same proportions, basically, but half size. I think it will look great, so obviously I'm going to think yours will look perfect, too. I have a 3.05ct stone also which is currently set in a 3 stone, and I initially thought about putting pear sides on that one instead. The size I chose for it was .5ct each, but decided to go with the smaller one.

So all that to say, I think your proportions will be spot on! This should be really lovely!

Thank you so much! Your ring is beautiful I have seen it posted here and I swoon over it every time I see it!

Ok I’m stuck, I’ve now seen this setting which I love - which do you prefer with a round brilliant, tapered baguettes or pears

I have one of each - much smaller proportions than you are proposing. The pears add brilliance and sparkle and the baguettes have a very subtle shimmer. Both look classic though - you can’t go wrong. I would order a few fakes if I were you to make a decision.

To throw it in the mix, not to add to the confusion, have you seen rounds with tapered bullet side stones? Beautiful option too.

I personally prefer pears, but it's definitely just a personal preference rather than everyone's taste.

Ditto this. It's a different look: the curves of the pears are more feminine and less geometric.

+1 personally prefer pears over baguettes, but definitely something you'd want to be smitten with yourself. I think as people have already commented, ordering a test ring(s), or even seeing if these classic styles are available for a virtual try on with your hand might help give you a better idea!
