Ok so I have been working with whiteflash whom have been most helpfull. My budget is around 4500 for the diamond. Thier representatives have been most helpfull. They are recommmending this diamond, so what do you think? My setting is being made by mark morrell as well.

To me, the numbers look pretty good. It isn't AGS Ideal, but none the less you are looking at one heck of a diamond. It will face up very white and clarity will not be an issue!

Maybe someone with a little more knowledge could hop in and talk about the Thin to Thick girdle. Not sure what the deal is with that much variation and probably is a major contributor for that stone to not be ACA. I'm not sure what that will do to the performance and stability of the diamond.

Can someone else comment?

I'm sure it will be a nice stone. I too would wonder about he thin to thick girdle.

I was also curious as to the table. The GIA and Sarin are 4.2% off from one another. So is it 52.8 or 57?

Great observation. That seems to be a big variation! Maybe one of our experts can comment on that variation and if it is common and acceptable.

So what is the deal with you and percentages??? Are you a statistician or something???

I have no idea about the percentages, but maybe someone would know. When I am done with whiteflash, I will post a review about them, so far so good. This diamond is what Bob from whiteflash thinks I should get. Its a lil cheaper then a 1.02 egs I was looking at, but this is a GIA. Thanks for all the help.

This is what Bob from whiteflash said about the diamond.
"It is very eye-clean but you can see a reflection of the inclusion at about 2 o'clock in the picture. When you look at this diamond on PS it says AGS 0 but should read AGS 3 because it has a thick girdle."
Honest..yes. Does this help at all with the numbers? I am really considering this one.

40x pic....i hope it works

Ideal-Scope image is very nice.

Ithink thre has been a human mistake / mix up with the Sarin / Cert.
Ask them to rescan the stone.

It looks like a very nice diamond way above average but not super ideal.
But then again it doesnt have a super ideal price tag.
Id take it over pretty much egl anything.

I hope its going to be really nice, im trying to get some more pics.

hi wonka i am just curious, how can they classify it as "ideal" if it doesn't fit the criteria of an AGS ideal, isn't that the standard that most people are expecting when they see "ideal" displayed as the cut. Even if it is a GIA certified stone, i would still expect them to be using the same criteria to classify the stone?

also can i ask an honest opinion from everyone? We are in the market from a diamond and I have become obsessed now with getting the absolute best cut. will anyone really notice the difference between an AGS ideal vs. an AGS "1"? will we be paying a premium for something most people won't see a difference with? what about an AGS "2", will the difference between a zero and two be noticeable?

also ... which is better brilliance or fire, and if you have more of one that means you have less of the other... are some ideals equally brilliant and firey? I think based on the tutorial I did they can fall into different categories based on the cut. Is one considered more preferable in general or is it all just based on personal taste? what are peoples opinions on this?

stone from Whiteflash I can say that if you are hesitant, have a talk with Brian while he's looking at the stone. Brian is a straight up guy and does not give you "flowery" statements about the stone. I think the best advice he gave me was to have no expectations. Once I saw the stone at the independent appraiser I was overwhelmed with how fantastic it was. Please don't hestitate to request a conversation with Brian -- you'll be glad you did.

Bob is also very good, I have not felt at any time that he wasnt trying to give me the best diamond for my money. He does not show me the most expensive diamond, but the best quality.

Bob from whiteflash said that he would go with whats on the GIA cert, being that all sarin machines are a lil diffrent. So the table is 57%. So think I should get it?

Nevermind, the diamond is sold. I just looked at it on the website. It now says sold. So its either sold, or Bob put it on hold. This is the 2nd time this has happend. This is starting to get really frustrating.

whatcha need to do - if a diamond sounds promising to you & you want to post it here on PS to ask us about it - first call the vendor & ask them to put it on hold... someone could've coincidentally bought the stone or, perhaps, someone else read some of your fdbk on the stone & called up & snagged it for themselves - it's happened quite a few times

After all, if you're Joe Lurker, looking for a similar stone, and someone posts a goodie at a great price, Joe's gunna snatch it up for himself if you haven't made claims on it...

True...True, Im just keeping my hopes high, I'll find myself a better one. Then i'll post it, AFTER I GOT IT...lol

Ponch,

Sorry to hear you've lost a couple!

Have you tried Whiteflash's Expert Selection diamonds? There may be several there that meet your criteria. Whiteflash can point you in the right direction on which ones meet your needs best. Expert selection are diamonds that are not quite ACA but usually sparkle well just the same.

Good luck, and like Alexah says, put it on hold before posting here!!

Guess what, Bob had put that diamond on HOLD for me, because he feels its the best diamond he has to offer, and perfect for me. Cool huh. I guess whiteflash is going to get a awesome review!

Im happy that its on hold. Now for pics of the completed ring. I hate to copy anyone, but I fell in love with the "Leo's" ring on Mark Morrells website. So it will be nearly identical. Just my diamond wont be as big. Her hand is only 4.5, so it should look great. I'll post pics when its done.
Best wishes, and thanks for the help.
