Which diamond is better and worth the price? I am looking for a loose diamond from the internet, however, most of them don''t have the information about crown and pavillion angle...then how do I know if it''s a good cut diamond or not?

i am looking for a diamond around 1 carat, price range is 4000-4700 for minimun H/VS 2, any good suggestion?

Thanks

I'd like to suggest you consider 100% eye clean SI's in your search. ALJDewey just got a gorgeous, eye clean SI2. That allowed ALJDewey to get a much larger diamond than originally planned for. An eye clean SI will maximize bang for your buck in your hunt for a well made diamond. Clarity comes at a hefty premium. Why pay for something that doesn't necessarily enhance the performance of the diamond??!!

Thank you so much, I found those 2 diamonds on whiteflash and it mentioned the first diamond was an ideal cut, however, they didn't provide enough information though.

I would rule out #2 and ask White Flash to run a sarin analysis on the first one. #2 costs more, has "very good" polish and symmetry versus "excellent," and despite weighing more will look smaller! It's average diameter is 6.42 compared to 6.50 for the first stone.

Here's a similar stone that you might ask for info on:

I found these stones through pricescope, and they are available through various vendors.

This stone is not a H&A super performer, but it is certainly not a dud. To get a top performer in your price range, you'll need to drop one or more of the following: carat weight, color, or clarity.

A super wow diamond would look like this (note: this stone has been sold): http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_00ct_h_vs2__h%26a.htm

Buying sight unseen, you will usually need to get in contact with the vendor by phone or email to discuss certain stones. You can plug the numbers you get from the sarin analysis into the cut adviser to get an idea of how the stone will perform. Make sure you research the return policy so that you can return the stone if it is not to your liking.

Just from the numbers provided, I would rule out #2. It's more expensive. It's deeper at 62.5%. The girdle swings from thin-slightly thick. & the mm of the stone is smaller than that of a 1c.

#1 could be nice.

Thank you very much for the replies.

I want to know what's the ideal numbers for a 1.02 ct, i mean diameters, table, depth, crow and pavili angles?

Hello,

table from the Sarin should be 54% +/- 1% depending on the accurancy of the Sarin machine. For a great performer, I'd stay within 33.9-34.7' crown and 40.6-40.9' pavilion. Maybe 41', but I really like <40.9'.

The girdle should be between 0.7% and 1.5%.

Hi, I am wondering if the crown and pavilion angles don't mention on the webpage, is it possible to get the sarin reports from whiteflash by contacting them via email?
I am a newbie here and don't know how I should do for purchasing a diamond online. I live in Europe, so it might be a little bit extra work though. Anyways, thanks so much for the advice

A well cut 1 carat diamond will have a diameter around 6.5mm and the depth will be around 4mm. Table size should run between 53% and 58%. Crown angle should be less than 35 degrees, but more than 34 degrees. The pavillion angle should compliment the crown angle in the 40 to 41 degree range.

If you are interested in using White Flash, check out their Expert Selection diamonds. WF has those diamonds on hand with complete information available. Expert Selection diamonds have also been screened using an Ideal Scope to check for light leakage. If you have any questions at all, WF can have any of those diamonds pulled out and discuss them with you or send you pics via email.

Hi, Cherry: Most of the vendors here have shipped internationally before, so no worries.....they should be able to help you with ease.

Also, yes, if you ask WF to get some numbers for you on crown/pavilion angles, they will likely be able to do so. When I was shopping, I asked for my numbers on 2-3 stones, and they provided them.

However, as PQ mentioned.....the stones in the "Expert Selection" typically have all the data including crown/pavilion angles, so that might be the easiest place to start if you're looking for a nice ideal cut stone but unbranded. The stones in this grouping are all inhouse stones that have been viewed and picked by WF to be best values for the money, so they can pull the stone and tell you what they see when the look at it.

Good luck!
