A quick update is that I thought I had found a stone I loved, but unfortunately it was sold right before I made my commitment

But they found me another one with similar spec and of course I wanted to first run it by you guys (but very quickly so I don''t lose out on this one either!)

Inclusions shown on the GIA certificate are crystal and cloud (not sure what these are exactly?). And is it typical for a stone to have an inscription? I''ve never seen that before and I don''t know what this inscription means?

As always, thank you very much for your help and I can''t wait till this process is over and I can have the beautiful ring on my finger :) I''m sure it''ll be all worth it in the end but this is the most difficult shopping I''ve ever done!

Hearts on Fire is a very famous Hearts and Arrows brand. Usually shortened to HoF.

The proportions are classic.

Inscription is lasered on girdle and is nothing to be concerned about. Who''s certificate is this? (GIA, AGS) The numbers are excellent. You need to verify whether or not it is eyeclean and decide if this is important to you. I personally prefer eyeclean look. Sounds like a beauty.

HoF are gorgeous stones - you can''t go wrong at all. However, you will pay a premium for these stones - they are often called Wallets on Fire! Have you considered looking at an ACA from WF. They are comparable quality and much cheaper.

Check out www.whiteflash.com

You will need to check if that SI1 is eyeclean, many are but not all, it''s really on a case by case basis. If you are concerned about that level of eyecleanliness, you could also go to VS2 clarity, which is rare (but possible) to find one that isn''t eyeclean. If you consider the ACA line, you probably could get a higher colour and clarity (or maybe an increase in size) for the same money you would spend on a HoF.

Good luck

Ditto. Should be gorgeous.

To answer your questions, this is from the GIA certificate. As for the pricing, I actually don''t have that yet, but the stone I was previously looking at was at around $5000 and the sale''s person at Pearlmans was supposed to find me a new stone with similar specs and around that price range. So assume this should be around that but I''ll find out for sure tomorrow morning. Does that sound like a fair price or do you think I can still get a better price somewhere else?

If all looks good I''ll confirm tomorrow with him and he''ll get the stone in-house to check if stone is indeed eye clean. I''ll have to trust them on their judgment but given their reputation I didn''t think it''ll be an issue. I know they''re usually not the first vendor most people recommend for purchasing the stone from, but I really loved their Beverly K setting and wanted to get both from the same place just to keep things a little simpler :)
