The thread about PS quality made me wonder about it what people put into the ultrasonic. I have put my eternity from VC and my ering in regularly and never worried about stones coming loose. Have people had stones get loose from being in the ultrasonic?
I regularly put in my e-ring, all stacking bands (3 with diamonds, 3 without), my watch (Rolex), my diamond pendant, and my tennis bracelet. All those pieces are worn pretty much daily so they get good grime on them. I put other random gold and jeweled pieces in there as I occasionally wear them.
Small parts from expensive fishing reels and firearms. Oh, you meant jewelry? Well yes, jewelry too. If I still wore a wristwatch I'd clean them too. Mechanical watches are very delicate and you don't want the parts to bang against each other in the basket.
I usually clean jewellery with diamonds and gemstones that can stand it in there. I bought a very dirty Antique Navette ring with tiny old cut diamonds set in a Marquise shape and the ultrasonic of course made one fall out. The ring was so dirty I had to clean it. I found the tiny diamond in the bottom so now I will have to get it fixed.
Don’t put any Swarovski in it. I lost all the crystals from my earrings in mine. None of my real stuff has been harmed, which is why I got overconfident with the costume stuff.
I put my engagement ring, solitaire, pendant, bezel bracelet, channel set eternity, and studs in but no pave. I lost a tiny Pavé stone in my band. It cost me $350 for one teeny tiny stone to replace. Considering there looks like a hundred (over exaggerating) in there I’m just soaking my Pavé rings in windex and hot water..I also don’t put in my BG 3/4 eternity because I got instructions with my band saying no ultrasonic because it could loosen the stones.
