Hey guys I have been snooping around whiteflash and they contacted me with this stone
It is a I SI1. The nice lady at Whiteflash tells me it is "eye clean" SI1. I told her I have yet to see an eye clean SI1, but she thinks this may be the one. I did an HCA on it and it looked good there as well. Do you guys think I should be scared about the SI1 and I color combination? TIA

Well, I is definitely down there in color if you are color sensitive. If you're ok with seeing a bit of color from the sides, the color should be fine.

As for the eyeclean SI1, when you say you have never seen an eyeclean SI1, have you seen a ton of stones? You should clarify with the woman you spoke to and find out what her definition of "eyeclean" is to make sure it matches with yours. But there ARE plenty of eyeclean SI1's out there, but eyeclean is usually 8-10 inches away in most people's standards. If that definition doesn't match yours, than you should probably stick to VS2 to be safer.

Whiteflash seems to be honest about things like this, so why not give it a try!

Make sure you are on the same page regarding ' eyecleanliness.' A working definition many vendors use is ' no visible inclusions at arms length with normal vision in normal light.' Check with them if indeed it is eyeclean at close scrutiny etc, but apart from that you can trust WF's staff to be as accurate an honest as possible. Also an I colour is where the industry believe that some may start to notice a hint of colour, particularly from the side, however this can still be white enough for many people. It is best to see some GIA or AGS graded I colour of similar in person if you can. However WF have a good return policy. The cut looks promising of this diamond too.

lol well it looks like it sold..not to me though..lol

here is a link to the stone. http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-231193.htm

if I was to pair this with a setting that had small pave set diamonds of g/h color would it make the solitare look yellow or off color? Thanks again guys and gals
Well, assuming the stone is still available the specs look great. I personally am fine with the I/SI combo in this size. I stones still face up very white in appearance with a very tiny bit of warmth from the side. I really doubt you''d be able to tell the difference in the color of the stones with little tiny sidestones. By the way, the center stone in my avatar is an H and the rest are I''s...I''ve tried really hard and I cannot really tell a difference.

Ditto. Eyeclean in standard definition is not the same eyeclean that I go for (a few inches from my eyes) so make sure it is eyeclean in whatever defininition you''re going for. As for color, have you seen other stones that are an I? They aren''t blaringly tinted, but next to stones of higher color (DEF) you will see a slight tint.

that stone is gone, but i am sure similars can be had. I have seen H,G,and I stones next to each other none certified. I could see a slight differance in the I compared to the G, but not the H to the I. I guess I need to take the chance, buy it and if I don''t like it take WF up on their return policy. I will talk to them tomorrow to see what they have left. Keep the opinions coming guys or if you find something better for the price.

I looked at several I stones as well, and a lot of them are beautiful. Especially when they are well cut, you would be hard-pressed to see the color face-up. It sort of depends on the setting, but how often do you really plan to look at your diamond from the side? It all depends on how color-sensitive you are, and how much you psych yourself out about it- once you''ve convinced yourself that I''s have too much color, you''ll see it every time you look at the stone, whether it''s there or not.

you will notice that one says SOLD....to me..lol! :D

I am pretty excited since this is the first step towards the "Big Step" ..lol.

I just want to thank you guys so far for the info and this website is a must have to make the most educated purchase you can without being a diamond expert( it does help to have diamond experts at your call on a forum too).

Congrats on taking the first step!! Let us know what you think of it when you see it! Do you know what kind of mounting you will put it in yet?

not sure what setting yet. its going to be white gold probably and I would like simple pave settings. I also like a simple cathedral..lol. So yeah I am pretty undecided.

ok so we were at SAM''s club yesterday and walked past the jewelry counter''s e-ring section. They had a .70 catherdral so I asked if she like the rng and she said it was really nice so I looking for a catherdral setting. I am looking for something under 550 for the setting. Any ideas guys

And a pave setting right in your price range:

i was reading trough the resources/knowledge base above and someone mentioned palladium. Any thoughts?

I found a mounting on Abazias here. Looks like the best deal compared to others I have found and Bluenile.

Quick question guys do jewelers usually mount diamonds in front of you? I am worried about getting this mounted and not being able to watch the jewler like a hawk. Also what should I look for after the stone it set other than chipping the girdle maybe?

Thanks again

I''ve never known of being able to watch the jeweler set the diamond although I''m sure it''s possible. It would kind of be like someone watching me try to take a test though... very intimidating! You can also make sure to have the report of your diamond handy so that you can map the inclusions to insure that it''s your diamond, and there aren''t any damages done to the stone.

Recieved the stone today. I looked at it quickly in the Fedex office and it was very nice. I must have been looking at J color "I" diamonds at the B&Ms because under FedEx lighting this was a very very white stone and I was happy not to see any inclusions. I can't wait to get the mounting. Do you guys think a jewelry store will let you use their loupe? Will try to get some pics later.

If they don''t, they don''t have nice enough merchandise to consider buying from them. Good vendors will always let you take a look!

I meant to look at the WF diamond

Just wanted to add that if anyone in Tampa is looking for a low pressure B&M ''Antwerp Diamond'' is the spot. Right now he is located in a bank, but will be moving to the northdale area. Inside his very personable office in the bank building he has tons of settings. What makes it nice is all the cases are open so when shopping for a setting he sits in his office and lets you go around and pic up as many settings has you like. Once you have what you like come into the office and get prices on them. Very low pressure and tons of settings to choose from 14k, 19k, plat, etc.
