I think it is the lack of GOOD sleep, so quite emotional and BLAH.

Am having a coffee to try and get oomph...

What do you guys do?

Come here!

I am not sleeping either because of having bronchitis last week. So I can empathize completely! Hope you'll get some sleep tonight!

When I feel blah (emotional or physical), I want my husband - the PILLOW, not the man :naughty: , behind me, tv on, pjs on, and my comforter tucked under my chin.

Hmm- maybe i stay away from your bronchitis... but i will come and check out your BLING for sure!!! LOL...I think they need a permanent holiday!!!!! I can give them a good rest in the sun and fantastic summer weather we are having at the moment... and you will definitely see the bling from down under!!!!!

I am struggling through the day at the moment. only 6hrs to go! then a personal training session ( one of my goals i set every so often).. I am sure i will be a ball of laughs by that time of day!!! uggh!!!

Only wish i could go home and do just that! Sadly, i will have to work through the day. OK-- time for a second coffee........ i wonder how many coffees i need to get through today. The record for me is 4.....and i only drink a maximum of 2 a day.....

Roll on 5pm!!!!

If I'm emotionally blah, I try and hit the gym...it gets my endorphins going, and I usually run into at least one person I enjoy chatting with while I'm there or at Whole Foods getting a coffee and biscotti on the way home. Also getting out of the house is super important for me because I'm a 95% extrovert and too much time in the house can easily send me into doldrums.

If I'm physically blah, gimme some good hot coffee or tea, a couple thick blankets, and some awesome chic lit or a few movies and I'm good to go. And if it involves a runny nose, I must have the tissues with lotion in them. Oh, and if hubs can take a few minutes to rub my back, that's a super bonus.

Sorry you're blah, Greg! Hope things perk up for you!

I put on music I can sing to
I go to the coast (beach or bay) and take a walk
I pull out an old favorite book and read
I go through my gem boxes
I get on the phone to one of my sisters or my mom and just chit-chat

Hope you get some sleep and feel more upbeat soon !

When I feel blah, any combination of shower (to start the day over), tea, nap and massage works for me. Also, a good movie to escape reality.

Pop in any dvd of Friends and watch away. Always puts me in a better mood.

When feeling blah, I like to:

-pick up our cat and stick my face in her soft fur
-go through my gem boxes like marymm
-start marathon watching stuff on Netflix. Saturday Night Live has been a favorite lately

What I wish I did is what vc10um does -- hit the gym (unless i'm sick, of course).

Feel better gregchang!

Thanx guys...

unfortunately, I am at work and i can't do most of the stuff that is suggested, but feeling the love from you guys, though..

Feeling better... on my second cup/mug of coffee... will see how the afternoon shapes up.....

3.5hrs to go!!! not that i am counting or watching the clock or anything.....

I put on some of my favourite music -REAL LOUD- and sing along at the top of my lungs!! (usually clears the house out - I'm no Celine Dion... just sayin'! ;)) )
I eat (ya - this is a bit of an issue... emotional eating... :nono: )
I come to PS and look at bling! :praise:
I clean my bling! :saint:
I try to read something inspirational - "a thought for the day" kind of thing :geek:
I take the dogs for a walk and just talk to myself :loopy:
I stop - take a BIG breath, exhale slowly and thank God for all the wonderful things in my life and start to list things I need to appreciate more... :halo:

Retail therapy for me sometimes works... but then again, when I don't find something, I feel worse!

Emotional blah, chocolate sometimes does the trick... then venting to my SO about it sometimes works too (unless it's was him making me feel BLAH)

Ditto with YT on watching friends though!

Or sleeping it off!!

Or visiting a new restaurant!

For me, personally, I am feeling the "new mom blues" right now... kids are too young for me to really be away for long... but I just need some good breathing space... need space to eat at a fancy resto, do some good mom shopping and do some adult things like go to the movie or even go the gym!! (sorry, I am venting now! )

More bling wouldn't hurt though... bling makes me happy... I just like to look at my pretties and it picks me up a bit! heehee! :P

When I feel blah I usually sit at the tv and hit raw cookie dough. However now I try to go to the gym. Lost 7lbs so far!

Sorry you are feeling a bit blue gregchang. I put on my favorite music and that usually does the trick. Ofc my favorite changes with my mood as I have many favorites. At this moment in time Frank Sinatra would be cheering me up if I was blue. When you get home blast some of your favorite music, take a bath and have some wine and hope you are feeling cheerier very soon!

Oh, and buying bling always helps or looking at other people's gorgeous bling on PS if I cannot buy at the moment.

Greg! I don't want to sound like a proselytizer, but I just found this out, and I'm so gob smacked I need to share.

I have terrible insomnia, generally - least little bit of stress and I'm up, VERY light sleeper, the works. I tried a sleep mask for the first time in my life a week ago. World of difference, seriously. I guess I'm more light-sensitive than I thought ... Never realized the difference between waking up 6 times a night and NOT.

Anyway, just had to share.;)

More generally, if I'm blah? I:

-take long baths - something about full body immersion is awesome

- have that glass of wine at lunch (it's, uh, medicinal ...)

- peruse my art jewelry books and old catalogues

- shop for new ones

- search some completely random old luxurious thing on auction sites and get myself a taste of decadence: in the last few months it's been vanity sets, travel cases, Baccarat perfume bottles, and Deco jewelry. Whether I buy it or not, I get a hit of beauty!

- basking in the sun like a lizard is nice

- so is basking by the fire like a cat

- last one, promise! I adore old style guides. I collect them. Started with Helen Gurley Brown's "Sex and the Office" and never looked back. But for things like this? Check out a book called "Wear More Cashmere." She raised the whole self-pleasing thing to an art form.

Thanx Circe,

I might try the mask. i think there is one floating aroudn the hosue somewhere, or i inherited it, or its at my parnets....

Reading these posts are great.

I am feeling so much better today. YAY!!! :appl: :appl:

I was having a self induced "stress-fest" earlier and I can't believe that I went and did this... but I just went and did 1/2 hour on the treadmill!!! Who *am* I????

But right at this moment --- I can't believe how calm I feel - wow!

Do other's know of this?! exercise = stress relief? I must go forth and share this with the masses....

i believe that is due to the endorphins being released after exercising. This has often been described as a runner's high.

So, yes- exercise does make one feel better.

That's WAY too enthusiastic of a description for what I just completed! ... I'd call it a "middle aged woman's hobble" - doesn't quite have that same cache does it??

I think you have just created a new definition for the medical fraternity!!!!! Woo hoo- a discoverer/ enlightener/ enabler... the list goes on......

Glad you are feeling better, Greg! :appl: I had to laugh, though, because when I said "Come here!", I actually meant come to PriceScope! I am afraid leaving your summer to come here to our winter would be even more depressing! But bling sharing IS always fun!!!

The thing about coming to PS is that you never are lonely because there are always people around. And they are people that share a common interest!

I laughed too when you said "come here!" And then you said you had bronchitis so I was like hmmm...misery loves company?

I'm having a blah moment. No, more anxiety and panic moment. Dunno what to do Greg!

In this (very odd) order...

-Take a hot shower, dry hair, lotion up, put on a luxe fragrance. Don't bother with makeup.

-Clean the house. Wipe everything down, fold all blankets, vacuum. Spritz house scent. Put a load of laundry in if needed.

-Take dog on a long walk... ending somewhere I can get a snack and coffee. Walk home.

By the time I return, I'm usually cheery and ready to move on with the day!

Chocolate, bunny cuddling, puppy cuddling (since I'm not so much of a dog person, this is the cuddle-equivalent of bringing in the big guns. Rory isn't afraid of my crying or sniffling the way Gwen is, but the downside is I get my face covered in slobber from licking), watch a ridiculous music video/tv show/movie (the key here is RIDICULOUS, really), play scrabble or another word game on my phone, go to sleep.

If at work, I try to take a walk or get some kind of hot real food.

I also like reading advice columns because everyone has such horrible and weird problems and it makes me feel better about my own problems, which are usually VERY first-world-problemy.

If it's sunny I take a walk outside, preferably to a nearby park. :sun:
