What could I expect from these ruby stones

Back in the 1971 my father was in Sri Lanka and bought these uncut ruby stones from a gem stone dealer, then more or less forgot about them and left them in his desk. Now we found them and is a little curiuose to know what something like this is worth? Hope someone can help. What should/could we do with them? DSC_0013.JPG

They don’t really look like rubies.
You would need to take them to a gemologist or send to a gem lab for confirmation and then find a gem cutter to assess their cutting potential. If they aren’t gem grade material then their value is modest as a specimen.

It difficult to take the pictures but it is very deep red when I put some light behind the stone.
