Does it have an LED light as well? Are all 10x loupe's the same or is this another case where quality makes a difference?

My DH bought me mine for our first anniversary - I guess he is officially resigned to my treasure-loving ways. :cheeky:

It's made by Grobet and is an all-in-one 10x/14x/20x with LED and UV. Lovely little thing, I really like it (but then again, it's not as if I have another with which I could compare).

I have a Belomo 10X triplet. Great loupe, great lens. Built like a tank. So good in fact, a geologist friend of mine, when he saw mine, said, "Ha! That's the brand I have, but mine is a bit more beat up than yours." He swears by his. I figure if a geologist still loves it and has it after years in the field, it can take whatever I can dish out.

Totally happy with cheap ones from ebay or amazon!

I have a Bausch and Lomb. I love it! The image is very crisp (much more so than the cheapie I used to have).

I have several, but the only one Ih ave with a light I never use. I prefer to be outside/near a window and use natural light.

Me too. The Belomo came highly recommended.

Can you take magnified photos through your loupe?

I bought the one DiaGem swears by.

Yes it is possible.
The results will vary a great deal depending on your camera, skill, time you are willing to devote to experimenting, and patience.

Many people may be happy enough with the results, as long as they don't compare it to the quality of a real macro lens on a DSLR.
But considering the high cost of fine macro equipment and the results possible using a loupe, many will stick with their loupe.
Nothing wrong with that.

The one Whiteflash sends with its products.

Wow, WF sends one with their jewelry?? That's too cool!

My wedding set from WF came with a bottle of spray cleaner, two cleaning utensils, cloth and a loupe. The loupe doesn't have all of the bells and whistles prior posters are describing about theirs, though.

Yes, all mine are done this way :D

I use watchmaker loupes, they fit over the lens of my point and shoot. I don't think my photos are all that terrible :Up_to_something: I use a 7.5x and 10x for my shots

Loupe:

I don't know if they'd fit over your camera, but if you're looking for an easy and cheap way of taking macro shots... that'd be my suggestion :D

Those look wonderful Davi. :appl:

Also I'll mention that PS compresses every pic file they post.
This makes my pics look about 80% less sharp than they look "live",
It is analogous to judging a $100,000 stereo sound system by what it sounds like over the telephone.
.
Viewing my macro pics on PS is like I slathered a film of Vaseline over my glasses :knockout: compared to what they look like when seeing the RAW files fill up the screen of a 27" iMac.

So if your goal is to post pics on PS, fancy macro gear is a complete waste of money, as Davi has so competently demonstrated.

AY-MEN!

I have a few printers loupes that I've used for pics before. But since I got that olloclip for my phone, that's been a winner any time I wanted closeups.

Hmmm. Now I'm tempted to get an olloclip and see which does a better job, the olloclip or loupe.... Hmmm...
