What are you wearing today?! Show me your CS!

Ahh makes sense, forgive the curiosity but I am intensely practical haha, does it mean you normally wear diamonds and sapphires on your right hand and everything else is saved for your left hand (assuming your right hand is your dominant hand)?

Did this idea come about because you’ve scratched softer gemstones before during daily wear?

I’ve actually never scratched one before and this includes wearing that nasty zircon ring as a rummage ring (it’s very low value to me).

Usually sapphire and jadeite as rummage rings except for Gengar and Chansey. Or anything with pave because pave is soooooo not robust.

A handful of chrysoberyls today:

Index finger: A precision-cut chrysoberyl from an etsy hobbyist lapidary, set in Argentium silver by the difficult Daniel M.
Middle finger: A deco men's ring, platinum and blue enamel, set with a glowy cabochon showing a weak cat's eye. I'm wearing this with a silicone sizer while trying to decide whether to have sizing bumps put in it (I can't size it the ordinary way because of the enamel) or to pass it on to my BFF, who adores it. It fits her now.
Ring finger: 18K Edwardian stickpin conversion, opaque with a strong cat's eye. This was one of my best finds from the glory days of ebay--the stickpin cost me a whopping $11, including shipping. I'm also wearing a gold ring on that finger, which I got on a trip to Bangkok with my dad 33 years ago. It says DARING.
Pinky: A chrysoberyl from TRR. I think it's vanadium, but I haven't had it tested.

Beautiful! Such a great story about the $11 stickpin!

Re: whether to gift the ring to your BFF - my test (because I’m selfish and I come first in my jewellery box haha) is:
Do I look forward to wearing this, as opposed to feeling like I should be wearing it because it hasn’t been worn in a while?
If not, then it finds a new home! Usually with my mum or MIL.

I guess it’s just like Marie Kondo’s “spark joy” test for decluttering!

A Victorian unheated sapphire band. This is my first ever antique buy and the sapphires were almost black before I cleaned them. 1000037900.jpg1000037899.jpg

Wow this is beautiful!
Out of curiosity, do you have a “before” photo?

Here is my “mummy and me” big and little stack!

Okay, I tried to be self-sufficient but my google skills are failing me. What is that setting - are they both half bezels? What does the profile look like? I can't stop thinking about them.

Sometimes Pricescope is the worst - I find all sorts of things I didn't know I needed!

Hehe thanks! I really like the setting and I can’t describe it well so I’ll just post photos. The emerald ring is Cartier Ellipse, and the sapphire is a similar setting but not as sleek.

I’ve been thinking about whether to replace my emerald because it’s so beaten up…

Your rings look gorgeous on you @Pomelo.

Pink sapphire eternity (not sure why photo got flipped sideways.)

Thank you!!! It's stunning, and has been added to my list of things I need. It's just so sleek and understated, in a chunky kind of way. LOVE!

May I ask how many mm are those pink sapphires?

May I ask how many mm are those pink sapphires?

Certainly. I did my best to measure, and my calipers indicate they are about 2.2mm.

Antique 15k turquoise with old cut diamonds from early 1900s. Not very practical, I need to keep removing them to put lotion on but so worth it.
