DH and I are in the process of buying a 6 ctw (0.15 ct per stone) 3 prong thin version diamond tennis bracelet from WF. I saw Mari (Flower12)''s thread about her beautiful 3 prong thinner look that I found beautiful (thank you Mari

).

WF sent me pics of both regular and thinner versions of their 3 prongs settings and I definitely prefer the thinner look. Now I need your advice about 3 main questions.

1) the clasp

According to the pictures WF sent me, their regular clasp looked to me very sturdy and protruding and I am really not fond of its appearance. WF explained that the clasp is more visible on a 3 prong setting since there is much less metal than on the classic 4 prong and I understand it well.

They can do a more delicate custom clasp but the additional cost is not negligible, especially if the setting is platinum.
Would some of you who already own a 3 prong bracelet from WF be kind enough to show me some pictures of their clasp either regular or custom ?

2) the metal

I am hesitating between 18 ct WG and Platinum.

WG has 2 main advantages, the cost ($ 1''375 less than platinum, $ 1550 less if I choose the custom clasp) and the maintenance facilities. Where I live WG is much more common than platinum and I would not have problems to find a jeweler in case the bracelet needs repair and maintenance.

Platinum has the main advantages of being more resistant to regular use and is low maintenance. Since I plan to wear the bracelet on a regular basis, I am a bit concerned about the durability of WG.

3) the length of the bracelet

My wrist is about 5.91 inch (15 cm) and I wonder if 7 inch is not slightly too long for me...I am concerned of banging the bracelet against the keyboard etc...But on the other hand, I don''t like when it is too tight...sigh...what to choose ??

Many thanks for your help !

I don't own that bracelet, but I have a gold bar and diamond tennis bracelet and the clasp protrudes. I have just been back to the jeweler, for the umpteenth time, for an adjustment. The clasp catches on my clothing, fabrics, towels, etc. It's not all the time, but enough to be very annoying. I would gladly pay for a custom clasp, if I could have a retrofit. Since you're having it made to your specs, I would definitely go this route. Good wishes on your fab new bracelet

Thank you for sharing your experience Marian. Your issue with the clasp catching on clothing and fabrics etc. is exactly one of the main concerns I have with this kind of clasp.

Any other comments?

I''m jealous of your impending purchase as well! It''s going to be gorgeous!

Regarding the metal, I''d go with the metal that fits your budget. If you don''t mind spending 1500 more than go for the platinum. Have you asked what length WF recommends? My wrist is about the same size as you and I feel like 7 inch bracelets are bit too big and that bugs me. Maybe 6.5 would be a good length? I''m just guessing though, as I don''t wear bracelets much.

i checked the wf site and looked at the three prong bracelet. i own the 5ct half bezel in platinum. i have no problems with the catch on my bracelet. i tried to see if the clasp is the same on the three prong and the half bezel but could not be sure from the one pic i found. has wf sent you a pic from a different angle? also the bracelet pictured seemed the same for all sizes. if you are getting the largest the larger stones may make the clasp less noticeable. the clasp on by bracelet is not very noticeable but it has much more metal so that is surely a factor.

i don''t know if this helps but i hope you find what you want.

Snlee, I have the same concern... I sent an email to WF yesterday about the length and wait for their feed back. Surely they will be able to give me a useful advice.

Crown1, WF told me exacly that : the more you have metal in the setting the lest you notice the clasp. Here enclosed the pictures WF sent me about the regular clasp.

I own the thin 3 prong tennis bracelet just like flowers (3ctw) in WG. I have had it for about 1 year. I have never caught any clothing on the clasp and there is no wear of the white gold. I do not notice that it is protruding at all. Everyone who comments on it just says how beautiful and sparkly it is. As far as the length goes I have the 7 inch and it is snug on my wrist but not tight. I like that it does not move too much or flap down onto my palm or keyboard.

I have to say that I am very pleased with the bracelet and would absolutely recomend it.

Sorry I don''t have any pics, but Aljdewey and Shay37 have seen it in person and may be able to comment on it a bit as well.

are you talking about the clasp that resembles a flower with diamonds? am i on the right track of the difference being 175? if so, and it is the diamond clasp i think that is reasonable. spending the bucks you are 175 is negligible if it makes you happy. i could not see that clasp on flower12''s bracelet. truth be told, i did not see her clasp.

mari looks to have a small wrist and she posted some pics with measurement figures. i have the standard 7 inch bracelet and a 6 inch wrist. i like that length even if it is annoying on the keyboard. you can always push it up to where it will stay while typing. hth.

I think you would very quickly get used to the look of the clasp, and it would be no bother. That said, if they have a clasp that is less bulky, that wouldn't be a bad thing.

If it was a ring, I would advise platinum, but with small stones in a tennis bracelet I think white gold would be fine.

You have almost a six inch wrist, which means that a seven inch bracelet would lie about a half inch past your wrist, which is just where you want it. If per chance it feels a bit too long for you, you could easily have a link or two removed by your local jeweler, while adding a link or two is much more of a hassel.

I have a small wrist too, so am thinking 6.5 would be best. If you have seen a clasp that you love, send WF some pics and they can make it for you. Best of luck, sounds like a fun project!!

Crown1, I showed WF a picture of Diadiva''s diamond flower clasp but WF advised against it saying it would not be as safe and would catch on fabrics etc..The additional cost for a less protruding custom clasp is 450$ in WG and 625$ in platinum.

Richard, thanks for the advice, you are right it is better to have to shorten the bracelet by a couple of links than to have it too tight.

Thank you Lisa ! It is really difficult to know the right size ! I''ve tried on a 7.25 inch tennis bracelet in a store and it was too big. I don''t know if the .25 inch will make a big difference.

Just to keep you posted, we ordered the bracelet !!!

Ellen, I know I''ve been a naughty girl with the pendant pics ...

But I promise to be a good girl with the bracelet

Rising Sun, I don''t have pics of the custom clasp. WF told me that it will sit flush with the line of the bracelet and that I will see only diamonds from the top...Can''t wait to see the final result ! WF will send me pics as soon as the bracelet is completed so I will keep you posted
