Hi girls,
I am writing because I got married few weeks ago. I have read few messages about Belize and I have to admit that there are many unexpected situations beyond the wedding coordinator''s control. In my situation, I was very happy and would marry again in Belize and use the same coordinator.
The three days issue prior to the application for the license to marry is straight forward. You are recommended to arrive to Belize, let''s say - Want to get married on a Saturday - They advise you to arrive in Belize on Tues, preferrably. That way, they receive the Marriage License Friday afternoon.
Well, Tropical flowers in Belize are extremely beautiful and long lasting. My wedding coordinator got some wonderful wild orchids in various colors of green, pink, orange, yellow which came in handy for our cake and floral arrangements. I contacted my coordinator about three months prior to my wedding date. This guy, emailed me pictures of the orchids and other flowers he can import from Mexico - This included carnations, Casa blanca, Roses,etc etc. It sums to that I agreed to get some flowers from Mexico and orchids which I really loved...On my wedding day - There they were.... all over the place.... no exceptions to the rule....
The minister who was officiating the ceremony is English but very sweet very flexible. We prepared our own ceremony and he added very little - one which quoated a story from the bible...where there was little importance to have walls of a cathedral for a wedding to take place....it was an emotional ceremony..everyone was crying..including me. The sand ceremony was more meaning ful to our union.
Pictures were not what we really expected, because we were rushing to get the best of the sunset... but i can say they were good for what we paid for...approx 300.00 USD ....
My make up artist and hair stylist was phenomenal. This guy is originally from Guatemala but lives in Belize since he was a child. He is very articulate and very friendly. I believe his name in Carlos and is Victoria House''s official Hair Stylist and Make Up Artist. He has done several Models including Brooke Shields, Guess Models, and Venus Catalog. He is amazing....and very cheap too... ( Approx 200.00 -300.00 USD).
Ambergris Caye or San Pedro has no dry cleaning so you will need to bring your dresses in the best shape and a manual steamer.
Champayne and wines are readily available and your coordinator can arrange that for you also.
The resort I stayed at provides their own wedding coordinator but I chose someone else who works efficiently. His name is Enriquo and he is currently working on his website called www.idoinbelize.com If you have any questions, go with him, I was totally happy with him and his patience. He is amazing, he just happened to organized Brody Jenner sister''s wedding in Belize May 2006. This guy couldn''t have been any better.....his is the best.....
My Wedding experience was exceptional. It over exceeded my expectations and my guests were blown away by the smallest details which included the releases of butterflies, white doves and the pair of white rabbits....
What else can I tell you all..... Just communicate well with your coordinator...and really get your stats correct.... If you are on a budget, explain to your coordinator that...so they can work around it.....
