I hope this is in the right forum. I am going to a wedding as a guest. I''m not sure how I''m going to do my makeup. I am probably wearing a black dress (or a black dress with a pattern). I have reddish (closer to auburn) hair, pale skin and blue eyes. Sorry I''m not comfortable posting pics.

How do you normally do your makeup?
What season is the wedding?
Do you want to look natural or made up?
Is it formal or more casual?

Thanks for answering my post. I normally just wear the bare minimum for makeup so I want to keep things more natural but more dressy/made up (because it is a wedding). The invitation gave no clue as to dress code etc. so I''m going to stay somewhere in the middle. Oh and I have to be able to do it myself. Thanks.

Oops I forgot to add it''s in summer.

Have you tried looking up pictures of Julianne Moore? It sounds like you two have similar features.

I would google some images of famous redheads and see what they're wearing to see if that inspires you.

My thoughts, though, are neutrals. Think mocha, chocolate, champagne. Avoid anything too pink or red. You could do champagne color on your eyes with mocha or chocolate in the crease and corner, and use it as your eyeliner. Add some mascara, a bit of peachy blush and a nude/sheer lipstick. Depending on the tone of your hair and skin, you could go to a pale pink or more of a wine color for your lips.

Also, a lot of department stores will offer free color consultation. Take a trip to the mall and see what you can find.

I agree. Also sephora is really helpful too.. and can show you how to do it yourself... and sell you products that matches your skin tone. Have fun!

Thanks a lot for the advice. I''ll ask around at stores and look up pictures of famous redheads too.

Sorry I forgot to ask but I have oily lids so any recommendations on how to get the eye makeup to stay put in the heat would be great!

Two colors of brown eyeshadow. Lighter on the lid and brow. Darker in the crease. Brown mascara. Peachy cheeks and Dark peach glossy lips.

why not go to MAC for a makeup application (at the dept stores it used to be free). I would do up the eye and a nude lip...if the wedding is in the evening you can do a smokey eye. I love the drama of makeup to be on the eyes and love the nude lip. GL

I''ve always had great luck with MAC makeup or bare minerals...Mac will last forever.

Thanks again everyone. I will try some makeovers and ask advice at counters. I did look up pictures of Julianne Moore and got some ideas from those too.

Since you don''t wear a lot of makeup, you may just want to work with a product other than a primer. A primer is best for frequent use, but if you''re after more of an occasional affect, you can use concealer on your lids (several minutes after applying any creams or lotions to allow them time to absorb). The concealer will act as primer and you can put a translucent powder OVER your eye makeup to set it.

I love Urban Decay''s Eyeshadow primer - have had no problems with it yet.

I love purple shadow on a redhead. I think it''s such a cool, inviting look. A nice glossy pale lip, lush mascara, a slightly bronzer cheek...you''re good to go!

I know purple isn''t normally anyone''s first thought...but outside of the box, when it comes to make, is a cool place. I would pick a lilac with a subtle irridecent quality to it. First apply primer to the eyelid, allow to set and then smooth out. Using a wider and denser brush cover your entire lid with the shadow, no need for shading or contouring for this summer day look. Finish off with a healthy coating of brown/black mascara for a bit of sexy drama. If you want to line...pick up a plum shadow, using a liner brush you can create a slightly smokey look without any harsh lines.

For the skin, I would recommend a light tinted moisturizer...nothing heavy. A little concealor if needed in the trouble spots. Using a cream bronzer (like Nars) brush a bit over the apples of your cheek. No blush or powder bronzer needed.

A soft glossy lip is the perfect finish. You could almost get away with the new Fresh cosmetic Rose Sugar balm...it rocks, by the way!!
