My new WF .806 ct H&A in the legato sleek line setting will be here SOON!!!! yippee! I''ve been talking to Lesley about wedding bands and have also been to lots of B&M stores to try on different bands. Of course, not having my ering yet, I would never make a decision until I could see something with my ering, but I''m trying to get ideas and weigh the pros and cons of different types of bands.

I like eternity bands. I think I''ve gotten past the "but 3/4 would be more practical" thing. I love the look (and so does my husband) of the full eternity. Now the questions are:

(1) prong set or bead set or fishtail pave set?
I love the look of less metal, but I don''t like the wavy sides of the shared prong. I think I want the sides to be flat to sit up against my ering nicely. I love Mara''s rings since they are 4 prong set and have flat sides. Why isn''t there a shared prong band with flat sides?

I don''t love channel set round stones because of the gaps between the stones. That''s why I started thinking bead set might be good. But many of the bead set rings are too thin. Some have milgrain and some don''t. I think I might get tired of milgrain after a while, even though I love the sparkly look that very small milgrain can give you. I want something that is at least 2mm wide, so Ritani and the like are out. I think I like the WF bead set eternity, but it looks chunky and metal-ly on their site. I think it looks much better in the couple of hand shots I''ve seen. And I worry that it looks too much like channel set.

I really like the looks of this one (but I want platinum, not white gold): http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=6475&catid=8&filter_id=0&nav1=band_channel.asp&page=1&show_all_pages=1&col=2&row=33&pos=98&set_shape= I like the width, I like the carat weight, I like the flat sides. The stones would be around 3.5 pts, which is great. I guess WF could custom make one like this right?

- what size melee do I go with to compliment but not detract from my center stone? (It''s right at 6mm across.) 2 pointers? 3 pointers? If I was doing a simple shared prong, I think I could even go with 4 pointers, but with a 4 prong setting, there will be a little more metal and I don''t want it to get chunky looking. The WF bead set eternity has only .40 tcw. That seems a little skimpy. I want some bling since I won''t have any side stones in the ering.

Please send me pictures and suggestions! My hubby wants us to find a wedding band soon so I don''t have to go without for long. Maybe he''s scared I''ll get snatched away. :-) ha ha!!

I did 3 pointers with my 6.5 mm stone and thought it was the perfect size. I think either 2 or 3 pointers would be a great size with your stone and really make it stand out.

here's a pic

Shared prong bands are beautiful, but have rubbing issues. I'd get a bead-set band with flat sides and no milgrain. Milgrain won't be in style in a few years. Here's a great example: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-whiteflash-bead-set-eternity-ring.61914/

I personally didn't worry about the rubbing of the shared prong band next to a plain e-ring. it might get a few scratches but nothing that couldn't be polished out. I also don't really think milgrain will be out of style in a few years. it's a technique that is very old that was used to cover imperfections in antique rings but those are still classic beauty's. I don't really see it as trendy although currently very popular, but that's just my opinion

the ring Kcoursolle linked would be a very nice choice too.

mrssalvo, your''s is shared prong, correct? Are the sides flat or wavy?

You might want to go try on the Tiffany Novo band. It sounds more like what you are looking for. Just be sure to ask whoever you buy from how complicated it will be to resize, because over a lifetime, many of us do need to resize rings. That is reality, so be sure you either can resize or be content with replacing your ring later.

Ritani definitely makes rings over 2mm wide, so I''d recommend trying some of those, too. Another who should have diamond bands with edges would be Scott Kay.

As far as shared prong rings go, all brands do not scratch the e-ring prongs. I know my Memoire does not at all and neither does Tiffany, from what I have heard.

mine was shared prong and the sides were wavy. but the ring is so small in real life you really don''t notice it like you do in the giant pics we see here.

I would go with 2 pointers. I used to have a .81 solitaire ering and I have a 2 pointer shared prong eternity band. I will try to find and post some pictures when I get home.

Oops, I meant 3 pointers.

Here are some pictures of my old .81 ering and .75tcw eternity band.

gorgeous! So tell me, is that shared prong? And where did you buy it?

I''m going to be doing a 1ctw 2.2mm shared prong with 4-pointers. I have a 0.82 solitaire, and I think it''s a very nice balance since the band is still so thin. My shared prong will have wavy sides, but like diamondseeker said, not all brands scratch the e-ring prongs. I think shared prong has the least metal and the most sparkle and would be beautiful.
