I was thinking of a Wband to go with my Ering. It is a princess solitaire in a 3mm heavy squared off sort of band- pic below of a very similar design. For the Wband I was thinking exactly the same size style band but perhaps with some very tiny channel set princesses off centre- eg so the top rim of the band will be princesses with plain yellow gold below. Hard to explain, and I haven''t seen anything like this around so I hoping someone else has and has a link. I want that little bit of sparkle- but not too much expense!!

Here the pic...

I am a bit confused! your e-ring posted in the previous thread looks like a wedding band and yr proposed idea of a wedding band looks like an e-ring.

Above pic is the ering- I am trying to locate a pic of band as described. In my ering pic before the diamond was out of shot.

I just searched the net high and low for the design I was trying to describe and found somehting similar from the site where I got the design idea for my ering eg the pic above is said design not my actual ering (mine if far superior

! )

Sorry to confuse. Anyway here is the pic (the baguettes channel set) but I would be probably going with much smaller princesses and yellow gold but in this general idea. How do you think it will look?

I really don''t want an eternity ie stones going all the way round as I am pretty hard on my jewellery (have broken diamonds before and already damaged my ering). I was going to go the completely plain band- but seeing everyones sparklers on here makes me want more!!!

I like the slightly different look of the off centre diamonds- and my family is in the biz so having it custom made is not going to be an issue. I think it might be illegal to ship jewellery to Singapore anyway.

well, just go have eternity in YG. you''ve got a classic simple e-ring i''d do the same for the wedding band, keep it simple and classic...

The band style you''re describing certainly sounds interesting and different!

Would you be wearing it with the diamonds next to the Ering or away from it?

I''d love to see some photoshopped pictures of the rings together! (PS: Hint hint

I think next to. But could switch it around and decide what suits! Would also love to see the photoshop- too bad I can''t do it

It is not "illegal" to ship to Singapore. You'd just have to pay gST.

i know the picture is not yr actual ring, but thx for clearing things up.

It is illegal to post- as my parents attempted to post me some rough opal and potch- not worth any value at all found in our mine. The post office wouldn''t allow it as it is illegal. I carried it in fine- along with other loose stones, and my new ring. Of course this may not apply to courier.

Hmmm, intersting!! Maybe b/c yr parents didn''t declare it or maybe simply because the post does not want to accept responsibillity for it shoudl it get lost or stolen? Are you talking abt the post office in Singapore? Also, are you sure it is not b/c, presumably (correct if I am wrong) GST was not paid? Did they actually tell you that it is "illegal"? I find that very surprising.

When my Dad attempted to declare it in Aust- they told him it was illegal because of SGs rules. There was no value on the stones- how can I pay GST on a worthless item that was my parents property from their own mine? Besides I thought Singapore was a duty free port.

When a friend sent me costume jewellery earrings they were held up in customs for months, and when I send articles gems and jewellery is on the list of prohibited goods along with explosives etc.

I am sure it wouldn''t be a problem by courier, but am not going to take any chances!

Actually, GST (a transactional tax) is entirely different from customs duty. All items imported into Singpore, as well as transactions and purchases within Singapore, are subject to GST (except for certain items where GST relief is granted).

But it is interesting what you said re the items being held up. I read some time ago a story posted on the net by some guy in Singapore who bought his girl a diamond from GOG, after having gone to all the B&M stores, and had it shipped to him here and he paid GST and didn't seem to have any problem with the item being posted (I can't remember what mode of transporation it was). I can't seem to find the the story online any more but if you have the time to do some search, you might be able to find it.

Don't know if there is any difference between the post office and courier in terms of GST or customs duty, either. Doubt it though. You can do the research on this http://www.customs.gov.sg/ or contact the Tax Authority if you're so inclined (I am not).

Also, it is not true at all that Singapore is a duty-free port (like Hong Kong is). I wish! You know the main reason why cars' prices in Singapore are so exhorbitant? It is because of the hefty duty that is slapped onto cars imported into Singapore.

As to your statement that jewellery are illegal or "prohibited" items to be posted along side with things like firearms, explosives etc. : Pls see the link below. Firearms and explosives are amongst the "controlled and restricted items" which would be allowed only once you produce the import permit or relevant authorisation required, for obvious reasons. "Illegal" incidentally means "against the laws" or "not complying with the laws". If you were to smuggle your firearms etc. or diamonds, then THAT would be illegal.

I am pretty sure that when goods are sent in by courier, they'd also be subject to the same rules re GST and import duty.

As to your statement that you can carry these things into Singapore without any problem, well...strictly speaking, you'd have to declare them and pay duty and GST on them. A jewellery dealer with have to declare them and show an export permit if he/she is to avoid paying import taxes.

Also, if they were "illegal", then you'd see no one in Singapore wearing any jewellery at all. Heaven forbid!

Sorry if I've gotten off-track here, but it irks me when someone posts such clearly erroneous infor that it just simply does not make sense and what's more, it might give people (those who might be gullible enough) the wrong idea about Singapore (and no, I don't work for the Singapore government or am a customs officer or anything like that).

Love that pic of what your e-ring looks like. Also know (I think) what you mean about the band. Here are some pics that are not exactly what you are decribing but they are a start. I"m sure I''ve seen something like it somewhere, I''ll keep searching. By the way check out these sites: the rings I''ve posted come from these. http://www.christianbauerusa.com henrich-denzel.de and also www.niessing.com.

Yes! Angeline TYTY you are on the right track- certainly the finer size of the diamonds- but a more feminine looking band.

Ah and Lien- you have taught me something new- I didn''t realise about the GST. I wonder whether I was supposed to pay it on my ering when I wore it through customs (especially since I claimed back the Aust GST paid). I remember now with my friends parcel she didn;t declare the value- so I suppose it had to be determined that it was worth less than $400. Maybe my dad could have posted if he could provide valuation documents.

Found another one... the site where I found it suggests you wear the diamonds away from your ering though.

By the way, I really like your e-ring. It is very modern looking! Would you like to share the spec on your princess?

That pic is the pic I got my jeweller to model my ring from- it is an F Si1 .65ct

Mine is a H VS1 .701 ct

I''ve attached a pic of mine, but my camera is too dodgy to get a good close-up.

Very nice. Both the setting and stone give the ering a very modern look.

Thank you Stone hunter- I wanted something simple, elegant and timeless. I also wanted it slightly higher set than what seems to be the fashion in Australia right now- which is to taper the band upward so that it sits higher than the base of the stone- I wanted my entire diamond above the band!I think it makes the stone look bigger and lets in heaps of light.

So what do you think of my ideas for a wedding band?
