I know there is probably no right or wrong answer to this question but I wanted some opinions before I made a purchase. My finance is now wearing a 6 prong platinum 1.8 - 2 mm (not exactly sure) solitare e-ring that I bought off of blue nile. We went and tried on bands together and we are thinking of getting two 5mm domed comfort fit platinum bands. The idea is since her e-ring is so slim the wide wedding band would make it look substantial and then when she not wearing the the e-ring she could wear just the band. Is this ok, do percieve and problems or anything I failed to consider. Thanks in advance.

My wedding band is 6 mm and engagement ring is 2 mm. I think that the thicker band looks substantial, and I like that. Plus, like you said, it can be worn alone and still looks good. The only thing is that I had to get used to wearing a band that wide because it feels a little disconcerting at first. Of course, I have very short fingers, so 6mm is almost to my knuckle!

Did she try on the 5 mm band WITH her ering? If so, and it felt comfortable for her, there''s no reason not to go for it. But I highly recommend her trying both on at the same time to make sure.

She did and she liked it, I tried it too and it was fine with me. I just wanted to make sure before I made the final purchase that (I) We, wern''t making a mistake. Sounds like its ok and can be done.
