Trying to pair a wedding band with a solitaire diamond engagement ring. (pic below)

Ring is 1.215 ct I VS1 Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut in a Platinum 4 Prong Solitaire Engagement Ring.

Looking at this (http://www.jared.com/en/jaredstore/engagement---wedding/14k-white-gold-1-3-carat-tw-diamond-ring-531504506--1/100222/100222.100223.100227) but it seems a little expensive and we're worried about getting white gold rather then platinum.

I haven't been able to find anything close to the ring above and am not sure how well it is priced.

What do you think about the ring?
Far price? anyone know other retailers online or storefront with similar product?
Platinum with white gold (I've read a lot about this, not usually a good idea apparently, although sales guy at Jared says it is fine)?

Don't mix metals. It's a bad idea. You need a platinum band.

What is your ring size?

Will ask Jared how much to change that ring to platinum.

Ring size is 5.5

I would strongly suggest getting a full eternity band. I made the mistake of getting two bands like the ones you are interested in and they do move around on the finger.

Thanks for the replies, can you expand a little bit on how a full eternity is different then half-ish one as far as moving around goes?

Also, anyone have thoughts on the ring?

Thanks!

Any opinions?

why is it a bad idea?

thanx!

I've heard it is because the metals will show wear differently but not sure if that's actually true or common

The platinum band will rub against the gold band, and since platinum is stronger, the gold band will wear down where they rub.

I'd recommend against a full eternity, actually. A half or 3/4 would be easier to re-size if that becomes necessary - or as an alternative, some eternity rings are designed with a small sizing band at the bottom. (For some women, pregnancy can change finger size, and sometimes that change is long-term or permanent.)
