Your stone scores a 2.1 on the cut adviser, which is very good. Scores of 2 and below are considered to be excellent, so 2.1 is very close.

However, according to the cut adviser, your stone will show a fish eye if you tilt it slightly. Does this look like your diamond? Perhaps that''s why you were told to get it recut?

Also, it seems that your stone has a lot of variation in its girdle and isn''t very symmetrical. I''ve never seen a "fair" rating for symmetry before. These could be contributing factors.

Someone else will have to help you with finding a cutter. Several years ago I contacted a company called EightStar about possibly recutting my diamond, but I''m not sure if they still do that for the general public.

is it 42.0% or 42.0 degrees?

the men for recuts are Bill Bray and Paul Slegers.

The Egl certificate does not say if it''s 42% or 42 degrees. The stone is really white and has a lot of white light but no fire at all

EGL cert means it''s percentage.

If you are unhappy with your stone, then sure, get it recut. But if it sparkles and has its own beautiful personality, even if it''s not "ideal," I wouldn''t let what someone else told you influence how you feel about it. I ultimately decided not to recut my diamond (it''s an heirloom) because it would have been expensive and my stone would have become smaller. I decided to save my $ to buy a bigger ideal cut stone later in life.

Well he just confirmed what I thought the whole time. I''m buying a new diamond and am going to reset the diamond into a 3 stone anniversary band.I don''t mind losing a little weight in the process. Then maybe I''ll resubmit it to GIA. Although I saw yesterday some EGL stones that were really substandard for their grading, my stone is absolutely accurate in it''s grading.

What did he confirm? And why do you think your stone''s EGL grading is absolutely accurate if you''ve never sent it in to GIA or AGS? I''m just curious...Which EGL is it?

Curious, what does it cost to have a stone recut?

Curious, what does it cost to have a stone recut? And how much diamond do you think you would lose?

Thanks
