Was this south sea necklace a good buy?

Hello all. I bought some south sea and diamond earrings in Hawaii and they showed me a necklace which I considered but didn’t buy. Wondering what you guys think of the earrings and also - did I miss a great bargain at this necklace - it was $2000 USD.

The size of the necklace looks perfect on you and i love the colour but from what i see the luster could be better

The necklace is pretty but I don't like the arrangement of the pearls, which puts a smaller golden pearl front and center.

I think you could do better.

I would agree with the others - you didn't miss a bargain. I would consider that to be a standard Jewellery store price.

But we all have to remember that when someone is operating a bricks and mortar store costs are always going to be a bit high for what you are buying. Also they could be buying from a seller who's buying from another trader who's buying from a wholesaler. Lots of reasons why prices are what they are...

I think you can do a lot better for $2,000.
Pearls are valued mainly on their size, lustre and symmetry. Some colours are more expensive (rarer) and well matched strands also more expensive.
I’m no expert mind you but there are plenty of sellers on Etsy who offer better value for money.
any bricks and mortar store is going to have higher business overheads and therefore higher priced.

This exactly. I can't tell where it is on the necklace but both goldens bracketing the largest white look like the wrong size. I almost thought it was part of the design until I followed it around and the pattern broke down...

Ooh, so not an expert, but if you want some fantastic options there are many vendors for several price points. Head over to the pearl thread and prepare to have your mind blown. The things you'll see, ooooh. Just wait.
If I had the funds I'd have Takahashi make me something fancy...
