That is so sad. People should be absolutely ashamed of themselves!

I wonder what the average person actually saved when shopping there. . .$20-30?

EXACTLY!! I''d rather spend the extra $$ and avoid the crowds..hours waiting in line trying to pay for something..or to even enter the store!!
No wonder 90% of my shopping is done online! (search, click, ship..so easy!)

What on earth does Walmart have that these people wanted so badly? That''s just awful!
I was out shopping this morning, and granted, Green Bay has a small community feel, but its still a good sized city, with a busy mall, and people were still saying "excuse me, and I''m sorry, pardon me" just when they bumped into one another at 5am this morning.

I've only been in Walmart three times and was so embarrassed that I had to go in there last month to pick up a toy for a friend of my son's. It was the ONLY store that carried those toys (mini bakugans). . .we looked other places, including Toys R Us, and had no luck. What if I have to go back again since my kids are asking for them for Christmas?

A must have, must enter Walmart, for 6-8 year olds:

I''d go buy it online. Paying for shipping might very well be worth it!

On the TRU site, they're all out of stock. How annoying, huh?

ETA - looks like Target carries them in store. I better shop before they run out!

People are just sick and frantic over black friday...I don''t get it personally. People were in line at our local mall here at 2am for a 5am opening JUST to get a $10 gift card. Yes people waited in line for 3 hours, in Wisconsin, in November, for $10. Crazy.

I thought the very same thing, there is no excuse for this kind of behavior...that poor man.

"Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him".

There is no reason to act like that

It is crazy. One year my friend got up early and showed up for Target's opening and filled up her cart and then saw the line, left the cart at the side of the aisle and took off!

We were planning to get out the house today, but will go tomorrow for just a few small items - DH needs new jeans. I'm still in my PJs and it's 11:30. We had such a long day yesterday that we're being lazy. My son is eating ice cream for lunch. lol

That''s so sad. Makes me sick. They should have had Police there before, with crowds that large.

Oh golly, I missed out on that one!!!! East or West Towne?

My favorite, was as I was driving to work, I went past Menards at around 6, which I think is when they opened.....and my goodness was the traffic nuts. And their parking lot of course was packed with people in line outside. For Menards????? Boy that lumber sure would look good under my christmas tree.

West Towne! Insanity. Part of me wants to go over to Hilldale to buy a new fleece today but I'm a little scared! Not sure if the crowds will have died down by then or not...

Ditto!!! This has bothered me after reading about it; I am so sad for this Wal-mart workers family and friends. It is extremely heartbreaking; did someone not see this person fall?? Are people just that selfish they keep trampling this person? sickening.

That is disgraceful. How can people be so materialistic that they can trample over people to buy something. The only other time I have seen anything like this was when 96 football fans were crushed and trampled to death at Hillborough football ground in 1989, home to Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. I feel so sad for that mans family.

I haven''t been to west towne in years. I don''t even know what stores are there anymore! I would think its probably starting to settle after the lunch hour. A lot of people take extended lunch breaks to go get the last of the door buster sales that usually end around 1. (I made the mistake of going to the mall at lunch time last year) I wasted about a quarter tank of gas trying to find a parking spot!

WHAT THE HELL?

Humanity is really going downhill when stupid crap like this happens. Go get a dang TV some other time! No stupid material object is worth a LIFE!

WOW. And I know this Walmart too, it''s right by where my parents used to live

They should be ashamed of themselves as human beings. Disgusting.

Ooo My Gosh....I am so sorry to hear that. On the other hand, I am not surprised about the incident.

I had once gone to the early Black Friday shopping with my college roommates and it was HORRIBLE. My roommates and I were immediately separated once we were squeezed in the store. I was pushed everywhere in the store the entire time. People were rude, and inconsiderate; the sound of screaming and yelling were packed in the air. I felt like a human football in my 5''2", 100 lbs frame. How I walked out the store alive remains a mystery to me.

That''s awful. Sending prayers to his family. What a waste of a life.

I am sure you didn''t mean to be, and I know a lot of people have negative views of WM, but I find that statement offensive. I shop there from time to time because I am on a tight budget, and I don''t think it is shameful, esp. in this economy.

That being said, there is NO WAY I would have been there this morning, and I feel awful for the family of that worker. Completely senseless tragedy.

I felt so sad when I heard that the worker was killed in the crush of the crowd. I really think it is the responsibility of the store to handle crowd management--and you have to have it all under control before the door opens.

Have any of you been in a situation like that? Remember when people were getting killed at rock concerts? I was at a rock concert (and thank God no one was killed) but the crowd started surging forward, and I was in the middle-- you just get swept forward with no control. People in front were getting really hurt and everyone started screaming to stop pushing forward, but it really didn''t help. The only thing that helped was they opened more doors. Once the surge starts the crowd takes on a life of its own and no one person can stop it. You have to have control before hand!

I know, right?! I cannot believe that not one person saw this man laying on the floor...they were all running over him and around him! No black Friday deal is more important than a life! It is just disgusting!

This is just insane and so sad. I''ve actually never gone shopping on a Black Friday once. Nothing is worth dealing with crazy crowds like this.

thats so horrible. i cant believe it. what is wrong with people???

This is exactly why Best Buy does tickets for the really awesome deals that the store has a limited amount of in stock and then makes sure to stack 100s of the other great deals for people to stick in their carts once they are in the store. This really keeps the pushing and shoving to a minimum.

This is such a sad story.

People sicken me sometimes.

Sort of brings new meaning to Shop Till You Drop

I can''t believe people could become so crazed over a few dollars in savings. It''s bizarre behavior to say the least.

Neither have I.

I seriously have no words (that are printable) for the people who did this. And as if this incident wasn't bad enough, I then read this article on it. This quote truly leaves me speechless. Seriously. I don't know what to say.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081129/ap_on_re_us/wal_mart_death

Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers stepped over him and became irate when officials said the store was closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.

This is such a sad situation....
