I am am wondering if anyone can give me some information on the visual difference between excellent polish and symmetry and good polish and symmetry in an asscher cut diamond. The diamond I am looking at seems to have everything else that I am looking for in a quality diamond. I have found other asscher cut diamonds for a similar or slightly higher price but the depth and table ratios don''t look as good (i.e. table 60% depth 68.6%).
The diamond I am looking at is as follows
Carat: 1.31
Color: E
Clarity: VVS1
L/W ratio: 1.00
Depth: 64.3
Table: 62
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Girdle: thin - slighlty thick
Cutlet: none
Flor: None
Price: $7924

I guess what I am asking is which diamond would have a better appearence? The one with excellent polish and symmetry but less than ideal proportions or the diamond with better proportions but good polish and symmetry

actually, I believe deeper is better, smaller table is better. Royal Aschers are almost always 70% depth, table less than 60%. So your 2 picks are reversed.

This is the conventional wisdom we followed when shopping for my Asscher. The extra depth is necessary for the infinite pool/ hall of mirrors that is so desirable in this cut. I ended up with 56% table and 65% depth.
