Visible differences in stone diameter in a 5 stone ring?

Hi all, I am still toying with the idea of a 5 stone (maybe RBs, but more likely AVRs) ring and as a point of curiosity, am wondering how much diameter (or proportion) difference is visible to most people? I would be looking at ~4-4.5mm diameter stones, uniform size rather than graduated, ~1.25 - 1.5tcw.

Can any jewellers (or experienced jewellery-wearers!) cast light on this? Would 0.1mm difference be indiscernible? 0.2mm? Thanks in advance!

Let me guess what you are asking. You are looking for 1.25 to 1.50 ctw stones for your uniform (not graduated) 5-stone ring, and wondering about the widest size range with no noticeable difference. Right? I do not have stones of size range you are looking for, but my example may help answer your question. The attached photo shows the five stones I selected for my uniform 5-stone ring. I purposely chose a relatively large stone in the center, hoping that the larger size would make my ring pop. Well, as it turns out, for a 0.03 ct or 0.14mm difference, the center stone looks a bit larger than the smaller stones when unset, but looks no different when set. Honestly, I cannot tell which stone is which, except that I can tell one end stone being the smallest.

0.504 ct = 5.12-5.14x3.16mm
0.512 ct = 5.14-5.17x3.18mm
0.541 ct = 5.35-5.26x3.23mm
0.513 ct = 5.13-5.16x3.17mm
0.510 ct = 5.11-5.15x3.16mm
