Vintage (or vintage-esqu) mountings?

Hi Everyone!

I posted in Timeless Classics, but I thought I might get a better response here.

I am helping my friend find a vintage setting for her diamond, passed down from her grandmother. I will try to post pics of it soon. It is 1 carat round (although cut deeply). I am not sure if it is OMC or OEC or transition cut, but it is definitely an old cut. I will get the exact dimensions if that is required for knowing whether a setting will accommodate it. Her budget is between $800-$900, and she would like to find a vintage setting incorporating some sapphires. Probably more on the simple side. I would REALLY appreciate any help or suggestions for reputable online vendors. She would like to buy the setting and then have the diamond set locally. I am just not quite sure where to start looking for something like this.

Antique engagement rings (http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=3) makes several settings under $1k (don't forget to check out the last one on p. 4, love that one). They have diamond side-stones, but if you ask, perhaps they can source sapphires instead? Given that sapphires are cheaper (but perhaps not at that weight, I dunno), they might be open to this? Does not hurt to ask.
