, 10K gold shank. Now I'm a little confused about the setting. From underneath it looks silver? Could it be some kind of gold colorwash/plating on silver? It doesn't look to have had any repairs...anywho...here are two pictures...any information will be gladly appreciated on this piece...I truly love it...

I really like the ring. I have an amethyst one that''s similar but I think mine is newer (no gold/silver combo for example).

Oddoneout, do you have a pic of yours? Would love to see it....maybe I''ll take it to a jeweller...maybe shed some light on it....around these neck of the woods, no one specialising in vintage/antique jewellry I''m afraid

Nancy,

You can find comparable items online if you run a search for "Victorian garnet" rings. :) You''ll find lots of pix for comparison.

Lang Antiques and then another site called Georgian something (Georgian Jewelry maybe?) usually have pretty good photos (lots of different views, including back views) and both have some educational resources on Victorian and Georgian jewelry that might help you learn more about your beautiful piece.

How funny! :) Hmm... I remember reading a while back that silver and gold were a common combination for Victorian and Georgian jewelry, but I can''t remember where I found that info.

Did you find this site?

Yes I did find that site, thank you...gorgeous stuff...I don''t think mine is as old as those...the bohemian cuts look like rose cuts set close together...I''ll be sure and let you know if I find anything out...
