Victorian Bookchain i think?!?!

my mother recently purchased what we think is a victorian bookchain necklace with a locket, we do not no much about this and we dont know if its even worth appraising, Furthermore i have done some internet browsing and have not been able to find a bookchain similar to the one she has.... i have posted pictures on Flickr if anyone can help me out on some information about this it would be greatly appreciated

Hi psw!

the premise is that I am by no means an expert.. but since no one else with more knowledge replied to your post yet, I thought I could jump in anyways. The pendant looks fairly aligned in type ans style with many I have seen around, but the chain to me looks really unique. If it really is a bookchain, as you were arguing, perhaps it was attached to a Bible? I see it has little crosses in each rectangular element.

Pretty Book chain. Where there any Karat marks on it or is it gold fill?
