I just quoted halo setting with these jewelers and it's been quite different , SK price was higher. Does anybody had a resent experience with these vendors? What is price range? I know that people don't say how much they paid, but just "late 4th" or "around 4".

Does price depends on size and center stone?

that ring in the photos belongs to me, and VC quoted me (in 2011 July) at the lower end of $4K. i have heard that prices have gone up since then. prices all depend on the amount of metal / melee diamonds, as well as ring size. but price difference should be quite small. Best is to contact VC - he responds very quickly and is amazing to work with.

Yes it does depend on the size of your center a bit. Also sometimes on other factors. I think you'll get a beautiful ring with either vendor.

Frankiextah, does your ring has melee on donuts? (be honest, I don't know where is donuts).

I'm not Frankie but I'll answer your question till she gets back...the donut is the area on the shank where
the four struts that hold up the stone (or head of the ring) meet the shank. It is directly under the head
but located on the shank.

It does look like Frankie has diamonds on her donut. Are you planning on wearing a wedding band with your
ring? That would be my issue. If you want to wear a wedding band then dont put diamonds on the donut.

We'll have to see what combination of rings Frankie wears. I only remember her wearing her
e-ring (with no wedding ring) in her pictures.

this might help with some of the terminology (ETA this is obviously a different ring)

I basically just ordered the exact same ring from VC as frankie (with diamonds on the donutes etc). the only difference is my ring size will be larger and my shank size will be .01mm larger as well. I'm paying a little bit more then Frankie but still in the 4's.

Sarah, have you discussed all this detail before you send stone/price or after?

Could you please tell me what measurement you have on your Halo?

I did contact him already. It seems price depends on every “move”, like he asked me if I want “donut” melee. I though that my stone smaller that yours and price will be less, but it is seems it’s higher.

Seashell and Sarahbear I am also going to get the same setting  It's obvious that Frankie has enabled us all. I haven't contacted him on the specifics but I will when I make my decision on a diamond this Thursday. How are you guys sending him the diamond? Through a vendor or are you doing it yourself through USPS registered mail?

I am doing it myself, as i wanted see and apprise it before i decided to keep a diamond.

Wow, a bunch of lucky ladies here! Victor really does such a perfect job with these rings! I just wanted to say that I would have it made with no diamonds on the doughnut because they aren't going to be that noticeable with the ring on anyway, and I would definitely want to wear a band. And in fact, I would want Victor to make me the matching wedding band (the same as the e-ring shank).

Sorry I usually don't check back to thread. When I first asked for a quote I pretty much stated I wanted the exact ring as Frankie, but gave him my measurements for my RB (which is extremely similar to hers as well) and my ring size. I'm not sure of the exact halo size- I can't remember off the top of my head, but like I said before I told him I wanted exactly what Frankie had. (gosh please don't have me frankie....i LOVE your ring have wanted a HW halo forever with curved struts) He came back right away with a price. On top of the price I do have to pay shipping though.

IN regards to shipping I already had my diamond in my current setting. VC gave me the option of either letting me ship it myself or he set up a fedex label for overnight shipping to him, which is what I opted for.

The price difference might be the melee size, kind etc. Also if your finger is larger that could count for the price difference.

I can't tell you how this has been such a major issue with me. I like wearing stacking bands or at least a wedding band with my ering. I can't picture just wearing a plain ering alone. however, to me this ring just doesn't pull at my heart strings with the plain donut :nono: If i'm going to pay that much for a setting I want to love every piece of it from every angle. I'm still going to hopefully wear a band with it- perhaps a spacer in between...i haven't quite decided but i understand i may damage the band(s) after awhile but that is the price i'm willing to pay.. I know Frankie wears a band with hers but they don't touch. I guess I will just see what happens.

The diamonds are being shipped from the vendor for my appointment this Thursday. I also wanted to see them in person before purchasing. I have the option to send VC the diamond myself via USPS registered snail mail (I'm not sure of the cost) or I can return them via Fedex to the vendor and then they will Fedex it to him. This may cost more but it will get there next day and I will have a tracking number for it. The second route will give me peace of mind which might be worth the cost. I'm not sure yet.

Frankiextah can you post a pic of your Emilya ring along with the wedding band that you normally wear with it? I haven't decided on the donut part either. I do love the look of the diamonds on the donut even if I don't see it. I wonder how much pink diamond melee would cost to put on the donut? Hmmm.

I just got an email from VC. I asked him a few questions about insurance, etc. He said that USPS only insures up to $25 K so he would have to send me a Fedex label with insurance if I chose to send it to him instead of the vendor. Or I can send it via Malca Amit which would cost less. I'm not sure if they have a locatio in Houston, TX so I will have to find out.l He does not insure outside jewelry so I would have to get the invoice from him and have JM insure it during the setting process. Also the price of the ring does not cover shipping. Drats!

Why invoice from VC? Are you going insure all ring, or just a diamond?

This thread is so useful without even trying because I also plan to get the VC Frankie/susiemoo ring! I am planning for no donut but curved stems like mom2boys (hers is a dual shank though and I want a single). I want to be able to wear a flush WB with it. I was hoping the price was similar to what has been hinted but I don't have the center stone yet, we are still looking and it might be another month or so before we choose and it sounds like it is about what I figured, maybe even lower. Did you guys, Sarahbear and seashell, get an answer on how long it will take? I think I remember reading somewhere he used to be faster but now it might be 5 wks? also, how does tax work? Is there none or is it based on where he ships to?

Oops sorry sparkle, the question about time frame can be for you too!! Thanks! I'm jealous -this ring is gorgeous! I am so glad I found PS!

Jeweler's Mutual doesn't insure a loose stone, so you provide the setting invoice and the diamond info and they go ahead and insure the whole ring before the diamond is set.

On my invoice which will ship to Houston, TX there is no tax. So if he is shipping it out of state (California I believe) then no tax. The invoice says that the turn around time is 5 weeks. But I am willing to wait 5 weeks for a masterpiece :naughty: I am having the ring done in a size 5 for a 2.5 to 2.72 RB (haven't picked the diamond yet) and he quoted on the higher end of $4K. I'm actually a size 6 but I need to lose weight so I am getting the ring in my original pre-baby weight size. This will give me the motivation to lose the weight!

I'd wait two months! But I hope I don't have to! I agree...a masterpiece! Aren't you nervous about the ring size thing?

sparkle make sure your fingers get smaller (or leave a sizing bar)...your fingers might not be the same size even if you lose the weight!

Yikes! Please don't tell me that. Now what? Should I do a 5.5 to be on the safe side? I was just worried that if I lost the weight I would have to get the ring resized and it might make the diamond melee loose.

I am not sure but I think people's hands change differently with weight loss/gain...maybe you can get some opinions from other members? has your weight fluctuated before and has that affected your rings? I would just hate for you to not be able to wear your beautiful ring!!! will it be pave all the way around?

Slg47 Pre-baby I lost a little weight and my finger did get smaller. However I don't know about post-baby. I haven't been wearing any jewelry since having my little girl 2 years ago because she grabs at it. I may have to email Victor and ask him how much wiggle room there is with sizing a ring down.

I was a 7.5 pre baby and a 8.25 during pregnancy and then post pregnancy I was a 7.5-8,(depending on season) and though I lost the weight my finger size (and clothes) have never been quite the same. I would be very nervous about having a ring made for me until I knew that my ring size was stable. I don't have any experience with sizing beads or euro shanks, but are these an option for this ring?

Christina - I need to lose 40 lbs so I'm thinking I should be back to a size 5. Maybe I will do a 5.5. I will need to ask VC about sizing beads, etc when the time comes.
