I was curious about the unsolicited nature of the announcement so I did a very narriow search for a 1 carat I VS2 round. One diamond found on this site was $4620 for the stone. I then searched for this stone in Pricescope and six vendors participating here offer the same diamond for prices ranging from $4080 to $4235. The average asking price on Pricescope was $4157.50 which is a full 10% less than $4620.

There are always reasons why one place charges differently than another and possibly someone will pay more for extra services, but for on-line purchasing, one wonders where the deal is?
