Hi everyone:)

I was wondering if you all could give me your opinion on the following stone:
http://www.whiteflash.com/round/Round-cut-diamond-256160.htm

I''ve done a lot of running around, back and forth with jewelers in the area and we aren''t getting prices like the ones online. I think its best to go w an online stone - the only problem is the uncertainty associated with never seeing it. At the same time we need the ring by this coming Monday, so we are in a HUGE rush...

Another issue that I was having is understanding why there is such a range of prices in the search that i did on whiteflash - can anyone explain how these diamonds are different and what justifies such an enormous discrepancy in $$?

(hopefully the link will work)

All the advice is greatly appreciated:)!!

Call WF and ask if they can give you more info on the certi.

I also suggest you call Whiteflash to get more information, images, and check if the SI2 is eye clean.

The second link you posted doesn''t work. It goes to WF''s diamond search page.

oh okay, hopefully they are open tomorrow. yeah the second page was a search I did for 1.76-1.99 round brilliant, D-I color and Si1-Si2 clarity...the prices ranged from 7k to 15k and i was wondering why exactly...

Hi Carats. You are looking at an EGL-Israel E/SI2. I would stay away from it. The reason it''s much cheaper than GIA E/SI2, is because no one including the dealer thinks it''s a true E/SI2 (GIA standards). Think about it. If it really were equivalent to a GIA E/SI2 the dealer could resubmit it to GIA for $110 and resell it as a GIA E/SI2 for 12000 dollars or more.

WMW is right, that is an EGL graded diamond, that accounts for the price difference. I am sure WF will advise you accordingly and offer you some good selections!

How can you tell it''s EGL Israel and not EGL USA??

Carats the diamond you linked to is not inhouse, therefore Whiteflash would have to bring it in and assess it for you. Have you looked in the Cherry Picked and ACA ranges, these are inhouse. I am only noting this because you say you need the diamond for the coming Monday, maybe they can do it in that time I don''t know you would have to ask them. Why is there such a rush, you don''t want to get this wrong, can''t you take a few more weeks?

Abazias also lists the same diamond and on their database they note that its Israel.

Carats and Jayrenay,
I stand corrected. I looked up a different diamond with the Israel cert than the one you are looking at.

I would only focus on in-house stones at WhiteFlash. They have an excellent in-house selection. When you start ordering in unseen SI2 stones, you''re going to run into extra time and expense having them shipped and maybe sent back if not eyeclean.
