The good news: the setting I picked out after an endless search has arrived and it looks fantastic with the stone I bought a couple of months ago (described in prior posts).
The bad news: the jeweler has had trouble setting the stone and I am losing confidence in them. I told them to please set it low and this was printed on the invoice. When I went to pick it up early in the week, not only was it set very high, it was crooked, and the salesperson acknowledged as much. She promised to send it back and have it reset properly. Today, I received a call right before I was supposed to go and pick it up from the salesperson that it looks like the jeweler messed up again and the stone is a little crooked. She said she would try to get it redone again today, but couldn''t make promises, and it might not be done until late tomorrow.
The problem: I had big plans for this weekend, if you know what I mean. But now I don''t know what to do, since I may not know until tomorrow late in the day whether the third time is the charm and the ring is set properly, or they messed up yet again and I have to wait until next week. There are fixed costs involved in the plan. And my confidence that the jeweler can deliver as promised is not high at this point.
So, can anyone reccommend someone in New York City who has FIRST RATE SKILLS and would be able to handle this ASAP? This is all the more disappointing and surprising because the jeweler is one of the City''s finest.
Thanks all. Nothing is ever simple, is it?
