the 2nd F color one is $ 150 more expensive than the 1st E color one. Yet i tested on https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp it tells me that the 2nd one''s cut is better..

which one should i pick? thansk very much for your advice!

I will go with the 2nd diamond. Much better cut.

thanks very much for your comments and suggestions.

I''ll probably have to buy one of these 2 tomorrow or at latest the day after tomorrow. Just need some more information on why the 2nd one should be the right decision.

both of them are GIA certified with 3EX... E color one is smaller and cheaper while the F color one is relatively bigger but 150 $ more expensive.. for the cut, is the result on pricescope cut adviser accurate enough? I just don''t understand why for 3EX stones there are such huge differences.

I''m sorry to be a pain... i''m just getting increasingly stressed when the time comes to decide!

bloody thanks in advance!

The angle ranges are ' safer' on the second diamond, the angles on the first diamond really need an idealscope image. Pricing, hard to say as many variables at play.

The result on HCA is relatively accurate, assuming symm diamond. Score above 3 will have light leakage. GIA Ex has a very large range including many bad combinations. I am especially weary of stones just over the 1.0c mark as there is a sharp jump in $/carat and cutter will be trying to get over that weight class for better return, cutting slightly worse stone in the process.

Read this article on cut.

The HCA is used for elimination not selection, all it tells you is whether a diamond is worth further consideration or not, the ones which generally score below 2. Final evaluation is done with Idealscope, ASET images and trusted vendor/ appraiser advice.

If you are unfamiliar with ASET and Idealscope technologies, this link explains

The HCA is a tool used to see which diamonds score below 2, ones that do are considered worth further evaluation, rather like a pass or fail test. Depending on the proportions and if a diamond has top symmetry some that score between 2 and 3 can also be worth further analysis but we would need to see the proportions to know if so in this case.

Think of the HCA as a sorting tool.

Of all the diamonds that score below 2, a high percentage will be excellent performers that really stand out.

Of diamonds that score from 2-3, there will be some that are excellent performers, but not nearly as high a percentage in relation to the whole. You would have to sort through more data and images to find those.

I don''t know if you are a sports fan, but a good comparison might be the NFL draft. Diamonds scoring under 2 are like the players picked in the first and second rounds--the vast majority are going to make the team and be productive players and starters, some will even be All-Pro. Diamonds scoring 2-3 are like the fourth round selections--some will not make the team, some will make a decent career out of being reserves because they just don''t perform as well as other players and a few will become starters. If you had to spend your money finding a starter for your team with no other information than where they were drafted, do you want to scout a first round selection or a fourth rounder?
