Upgrading diamond size

Hi, I'm a newbie and have a question. I have a pair of .5ctw studs but the diamonds are old and of poor quality (sorry, don't know the specs, they were a gift given to me many years ago.) Originally the diamonds were set in an illusion setting which I hated, but I just had them reset in 14kt white gold four prong baskets. The problem is that now the poor quality is very visible. I'd like to upgrade to aprox. .66ctw but am wondering if the baskets will fit a .30 to .33 ct diamond? Or should I just replace the diamonds with new .5ctw stones? Thanks for sharing your expertise.

A .30 would probably fit, but your best bet is to ask the jeweler who sold you the settings.

Yes, I was thinking the best thing to do would be to bring the earrings in to the jeweller.
