Hello All,
I have appreciated learning over the past couple of months by reading all of your posts.
The quick story: Married for almost 7 years. My wife has followed my career and taken 4 Bar exams as a result of my job. The engagement stone she has now is modest to say the least. We were engaged in graduate school and I wanted her to be my wife so bad that I sold my coveted Les Paul guitar to by the best stone I could afford- which wasn''t all that much (1/2 carat but enought to make her very happy). By any measure, she deserves more than I will ever be able to afford.
Now for her tastes in diamonds and settings. She likes simple pave in platinum. She likes round brillant diamonds and has a size 5 finger and is very petite. The ring is a surprise and I will be giving it to her in mid December (really not a Christmas present after all).
Following is my selection:
Diamond
Weight 2.0 ct.
Shape ROUND BRILLIANT
Color H
Clarity VS2
Measurements 8.25 - 8.15 x 4.97 mm
Depth 60.8
Table 58.0
Crown 14.0
Pavilion 43.5
Girdle THIN TO MEDIUM FACETED
Polish EXCELLENT
Symmetry GOOD TO VERY GOOD
Fluorescence NONE
Culet NONE
Cut Grade
DATED:6/2/04
*THE SETTING IS PLATINUM
The cert is EGL and I have seen the stone in person. I looked at it through loops, scopes, diamond grading light, outdoor light and you name it. It really is a lively stone. The color actually looks like a G and less like an H based on side by side comparisons under dif. light. BTW, the stone does not have flourescence which really does not matter to me but might have accounted for why the stone appeared to be such a white H. I have only put a deposit on the stone/mounting and will pay for the rest when I pick it up after the holidays.
Any thoughts/concerns before I bring it home?
Thanks to all for the wonderful posts I have enjoyed reading and in advance for the feedback.
