I was at a local B&M last night looking at their jewelry during their annual 4 day sale. They had a very unusual 5 stone diamond "bar" pendant, where the diamonds were attached to the setting by a strong but thin platinum bail secured through the stones. It was so thin than you couldn''t see it unless you looked clsoely. From the side, the pendant looks like a metal bar with downward facing "hooks" coming out of it, and from the front you see the diamonds moving and swinging as if they are loose and floating. The stones were moving with every breath I took. The graduated stones were very nice quality, approximately 0.5 carats in all.

Have you seen anything like this before???? I want to show this to my mom, and I have been searching for a picture of this online and can''t seem to find one. I may have to just go back and take my camera to see if I can capture this on film!

i don''t think i have seen anything like that. please take a picture!

Those diamonds are drilled with a laser to let the bale go right through them. Some sort of flaoting diamond effect. Very effective.

I''ll see if they let me take one today, Belle! It''s so different than anything I have ever seen.

Old Miner, I agree. The floating effect makes the stones dance and sparkle so well.

How cool!! Would love to see it.

I went back to the store today to get more info on the pendant. Couldn't take pictures this time - the store is soooo busy due to their big annual sales. Maybe next time... I did get a website address for the manufacturers, though, and after searching from there through a few more sites I found a picture.
Here is what the pendant looks like from the front.

Imagine all of these diamonds swinging loosely from their little "hooks" on the setting. It's very pretty! More info here.

Hmmm I haven''t seen such a pendant but it reminds me of a gal I knew in college who received a "floating diamond" pendant from her BF...the diamonds were suspended on what looked like fishing line? At that point in time I never thought to look closely at how exactly they were set....

Pendant sounds lovely, though!

sounds very intresting?
I wonder if it''s called leaser hole pendant?

It looks very similar to that pendant, flower12. These pendants do have the diamonds drilled through and wired like that.

It''s not quite fishing line, there is a metal wire through each diamond to suspend it from the setting. I''ve never seen anything like this one.

I love your Daisy avatar! She''s so cute!

YES. It looks just like that, only with five little shimmering stones on hooks.
