LOL I JUST found out that my temporary X prong setting was a "Unique Setting." It held up like a champ for 4 years and appraised well just recently when I had my stone removed from it for re-setting into it's permanent home. I'm not sure if they sell the public or not, I thought they were a casting company like Adwar, my jewler (BM) got the setting in for us when we asked for an affordable X prong. My setting had polish issues, which I took back jeweler and had them even out. Looked great after that. It was 14K, and I NEVER had a prong issue or anything. Was like a Mac Truck in terms of durability. I'm planning on having it engraved and re-plated in rhodium and have a colored stone set into it later next year. It needed re-dipping and polishing like any 14K setting, but looked as good as new everytime, and lasted for a long time between polishings and dippings.
WF has great polish standards and have worked with rough castings like Adwar before and their polish has been great. So I wouldn't hestitate to get one through them.
I just got my ering setting from them a few weeks ago. I don''t know if they deal with the public directly, our jeweler (a friend) sent us to them to pick out the setting. They have tons of designs and we spent hours looking at them until we made a decision. They were very, very nice and extremely helpful. The setting they made for me is beautiful and I''m very pleased with the quality of the setting. We even went back to them a second time because we decided to change my center stone and they were again, very nice and were able to set the new one right away. My experience with them was great. I hope if you decide to use them yours is too.
Unique is one of the big brands in the setting business and they sell through an awful lot of jewelers about the country. Call up jewelers in your neighborhood and see if they can get it. The prices are likely to be the same and they may be able to arrange to have you look at the piece before you decide. They might even have it in stock!
