Okay, so yesterday my ring finger on my left hand began itching horribly...It was the type of itch that itches *inside* so you can never really calm the urge to rub at it...when it this started, I was actually typing to you ladies on PS...so I was using my fingers...

After about 10 minutes the uncomfortable sensation calmed itself down and a small white blister appeared on the surface of the skin, it looked like a dry blister or peeling skin not a wet blister that needed to be popped, so I left it alone...

About half an hour later the finger turned bright red, and swelled up pretty signifigantly...

It never hurt or itched again, but today, I have noticed that where the blister was yesterday, there is now an angry looking hole in my finger that seems to be continuing to grow...like my finger skin is splitting in half or something.

It doesn''t hurt at all, and there is nothing that resembles a "spider bite" mark or anything...just swollen and splitting.

What could this be? Should I call my Dr? I am not panicked, but it just looks nasty...

Have you been in contact with any unusual chemicals Italia? If you have an angry looking hole in your finger which is getting bigger I would get a pro to look at it.

No, no chemicals. I am going to watch it today...and see how it feels after work, if it''s still getting worse I will go....

I would get it checked out just in case better safe then sorry.

Thanks for the advice! I have a big client meeting at 3:45 today .... so hopefully I''ll be able to go right after that...who knows. Friday''s are always a mess.

It doesn''t hurt at all, but I cannot find anything that seems similar to it on webmd or anything.

Weird. Yeah I''d get it checked too. I know for me, that''s an important finger to take care of!

Italia, I am glad you are getting it checked today. It''s probably nothing --especially as it is not painful -- but I always worry about staph infections. That is something that you''d want to get checked out sooner than later!

Even though I don''t post much, I always read your posts on hair & haircolor. You are such a great resource!

This sounds really strange....Is there any heat or signs of infection?

I''d get it checked as well. Better to be safe then sorry.

LOL, I know, right?

My finger is swollen like a little stuffed sausage, and still, I tried to squeezed my ering and band on because I have meeting today and for some reason they give me more confidence. But, alas, it was to painful and I had to soap them off because I was like "what if they have to be cut off later!!!".

Italia, do you feel unwell? Is there any discharge from the hole such as pus or blood?

Thank you, thank you...I appreciate that. I don''t have much to offer up about diamonds, but I do know beauty products and stuff like that, so if I can help I always will...please let me know if you ever have a direct question I can answer!

I was thinking it might be a staph too, but it''s not painful...which is even more scary than if it hurt badly, IMO.

I don''t feel sick, and I''m not running a fever. The split isn''t pussy or bloody, but it''s very pink...like it was skinned or something. It''s gross. But, on a high note, the redness of the finger has died down someone. It''s so weird.

Possibly staph, would be my thought.

OH NO! go and see a dr... worst case scenario, it could be some flesh eating virus... and that would suck! Better safe than sorry... fingers are good for the accessories!
***dust*** that you get better soon!

Oh my goodness! Yeah, if you didn''t have any chemical reaction to something....I''d go to the Dr. just to be safe..

Sounds like eczema. Maybe you touched something you are allergic to.

It happens to me when I am allergic to an antibiotic named Cipro. Are you taking antibiotics?

No, no antibiotics in my system....

I just wrapped it up in gauze so no one has to look at it during the meeting, lol.

I researched staph stuff and it doesn''t sound like it 100%, but if that were the case it would awful...

If that''s what it is, and you get on antibiotics right away, you should be fine. It may very well just be a cyst, too.

Is it directly where your ring meets your finger? Is your ring white gold? Possibly the Rhodium coating has worn off & you''re allergic to the nickel in the metal?

If its elsewhere on the finger ...????

I don''t think so, I may have...it''s so strange. I don''t have any allergies actually that I''m aware of.

I made an appointment for tomorrow (Saturday) so hopefully they will figure something out...

sounds like a nickel allergic reaction.

Yikes!

Sounds scary, please get it checked out.
Here''s some good luck, no flesh- eating virus dust!

Italia, you should get that looked at! Just to be safe - as the others have said, it''s an important finger!

I hope you feel better and the finger problem goes away on its own - but just in case it doesn''t, have someone look at it. Better safe than sorry, right?

Italiah - any news? You okay?
