No! Please don''t! My teenage cousin who lives in a very snowy part of Colorado liked to wear her uggs everywhere, to school, etc. One day coming home she slipped on a snowy/icy path, her foot twisted inside the ''shoe'' and she broke her foot. She is very promising competitive ice skater and ski racer, it''s healed but they were very worried about it ever being strong enough again to withstand a professional sporting career. This may not be an issue to you, but I am just trying to illustrate that along with having very little grip on the sole, the soles are flexible, and when they stretch a bit with wear, they provide no support at all to your feet. Not to mention they usually aren''t waterproof.
They were originally designed as indoor slippers, I have a pair but I would never, ever be caught dead in them outside the house. I don''t mean to judge, but I think they look incredibly trashy.
I''m going to go out on a limb and say you do mean to judge, since what you said was very judgmental. Just go ahead and say that you don''t like them, but it''s unnecessary to say they look trashy.Date: 9/22/2009 8:30:35 AM

I think the knit ones would be cute fall shoes. I tried on a pair and they feel like cozy thick socksDate: 9/22/2009 9:20:48 AM

swedish, i love mine so much that I've been looking at the button bailey as a second pair! the only concern i have with the style is that if it's really slushy, snow might get into that side fold. I have the classic boot in tall, and it's PERFECT. The lambswool around your lower leg really keeps your feet toasty, like legwarmers. I only wear mine in snow and freezing temps, though I try to wear them mostly with fresh snow...I've had 'em for two years and they look almost new because I don't wear them in the dirty slush.
eta: burberry - I've never gone for the knit uggs, because the best part I think is the lambswool lining, and the knit ones lack that.
Why do you think they look incredibly trashy? I''m not trying to be mean, do they just not go with your sense of style?Date: 9/22/2009 8:30:35 AM

There''s a difference between your word choice and Mish''s word choice, though. Trashy goes beyond judging the shoe to judging the person - if a person wears something trashy, they are trashy by association (if I wear trashy clothes, nobody will say the clothes are trashy - they''ll say I''m trashy). If they wear something ugly, they just made an unfortunate wardrobe choice. I''m fully in the "Uggs are hideous" camp, but would never use a word that implied judgement onto the *wearer''s personality*, which is what "trashy" does.Date: 9/22/2009 1:16:57 PM

I love my Uggs. I do. Can''t help it. Even if they are supposedly out of style and ugly.
I agree, they keep my feet warm during NYC winters and they are comfortable for walking. I buy a new pair every year because I wear them out each winter.
Mish: I don''t think you were being judgmental--you think Uggs are uggly, that''s cool. I think crocs are hideous, but all over the place people are wearing them...

I think I''m going to get the Bailey Button in grey or chestnut, I just love those. I''m also going to get the Classic Tall in Navy. What do you think about their knit Uggs? I''m thinking about getting a pair..
ETA: Let me know what you think of the cleaning kit too.
