Not to mention we have had absolutely no truth from the US government on the "war on terrorism".

That is why I am very skeptical about what a us ambassador says. Why would he tell us the truth when no one else on the us gov payroll has uttered a truth yet.

Remember how we were decived by "Remember the Maine"? Remember the court case where the FBI admitted to fianancing the first WTC bombing in 1993 then refused to replace the explosive with a harmles powder as requested by the FBI's imformant (the informant didn't feel right killing and injuring innocent folks)?
Remember FDR worked hard and secretly to provoke the Japanese in 1941 to very despartate measures? Remember he would not allow the Navy to protect the ships in Pearl Harbor? FDR wanted those american Navy men dead for his own reasons. Shame on him.
I believe in right to life even for those already alive.

No wmd
no threat
no Sadam
no need for this war.
I really support our troops. Bring them home out of unnecessary harm's way.
I don't "SAY" I support them and send them off to be killed.

I want them ALIVE and healthy. Not dead. I value human life over dollars. Hate me for that if you want.

Can we afford to pay triple taxes soon to pay for all this stuff? (endless wars, space travel, infinite free money to corrupt, immoral, unethical corporations, etc.)
The IMF has acknowledged that the bizare fiscal polices of the us gov are reducing the chances of a worldwide economic recovery.

Maybe it would be wiser to behave ourselves as moral, ethical human beings. Maybe we would have fewer enemies if we exhibited moral behavior. We must know what our corp/gov does to the world in our name.

Maybe we should give it a try for once.

...and I suppose the hole at ground zero is a figment of my imagination.

That said, wasn't there reports immediately following 9/11 that there was a rush of diamonds being sold quickly on the market - fairly large stones. I remember this because it was about the time I started searching for my stone & had some emotions about it.

Yes, commonly after a tragic happening like that it is a very common human reaction to rush into marriage by the droves. This time it caused a small short-lived rush on diamonds. I am sorry it caused you discomfort.

The hole caused by the controled demolition of the WTT is/was (have they filled it?) real. I am I to believe that kerosene (jet fuel) can melt steel? You need to do some scientific homework if you believe that. Can not happen. Ask your high school or maybe grade school science teacher. Don't believe me.

Who among us has witnessed a controled demolition? Think about it. Remember it. Those guys that do that are artists no doubt. Amazing the control they have under ideal conditions. Truly a work of terrifying and awesome performance art.
I watched 'em do the Woodman of the World in Omaha a couple of decades ago. I have been a fan ever since. Awesome

Now go rewatch the gracefull vaporisation and fall into powder of the trade towers. Kerosene can NOT pulverize a building like that.

All the facts I stated are easily verifiable for anyone with an analytical and open mind.

Did the folks who died in the WTC deserve to die for a false flag? I say no.

When cops sovle crimes they tend to look at who gained the most from the crime and follow the money. I'm waiting for law enforcement to do that.

There are no verifiable ties to Sadam or al qaeda and the WWC. If there were, SOMEONE would have found them by now.

I vote TRUTH
I hope/wish I am wrong.
respectfully
Joe

Hmm, how about asking someone who's actually seen jet fuel in action? Oh, wait, that's me. As a former crewmember on a Navy aircraft carrier, I can assure you that burning jet fuel can do an extraordinary amount of damage, and can indeed melt steel if you get enough of it burning in an enclosed space. I'm no fan of GW, but that stuff is just silly.

It can do a vast amount of damage.
What is the maximum temperture kerosene can burn?
What is the melting point of steel?
Under what condition would burning tempertures of kerosene be raised that much?
The black smoke said there was too little oxygen present for the kerosene to burn at maximum temperture.

What facts are silly?

I'm not an engineer--all I know is what I've seen. Unless you can convince me that the Navy has been staging bogus fires and falsifying incident reports for the last 40 years to support this alleged deception, I see no reason to change my mind. Research the 1967 fire on the USS Forrestal; that's probably the best/worst example what a jet fuel fire can do.

Edited to add:

A little research actually supports some that--the steel most likely did not melt. But this journal article explains the collapse sufficiently for me.

Bacon- You have got to be kidding! I suppose the holocaust never happened either?????

A jet fuel fire will burn to a temperature of approximately 1000 degrees Celsius. Steel melts at around 1500 Celsius. Steel used in structural applications begins to soften around 400 degrees, and looses 50% of its strength at 650 degrees. A non uniform temperature along the beams would create stress & buckling. This combined with the strength loss would cause a failure.

As the joists on one or two of the most heavily burned floors give way, the outer box columns would bow outward, the floors above them fall which just adds weight to the structure still standing, which in turn falls.

The buildings are able to implode and not tip over because they were 90% air. Even an airplane crashing into the building would not cause the center of gravity to move so far to tip the building over. The law of inertia prevails and the building goes straight down.

Oh yeah, can you direct me to the official FBI statement admitting financing the 1993 bombing???

sheesh guess there is one in every crowd.

1> the design of the towers caused them to fall the way they did.

The towers were built so that the force acting on the outside walls and floors was vectored to the center core.
Much like a round center poled tent.
Remove the center pole and the top comes down pulling the sides in and down.
That is exactly what happened to the towers the core failed and pulled the sides in and down.
You can clearly see where the core failed where the jets hit on the slow motion video of the collapse.

2> The pictures of huge beams with melted ends must have been fake yea with the whole world watching the government sent in 1000 people with torches to melt the ends of the beams.

3> During the asbestos scare the fireproofing material was removed from the beams and replaced by much less effective material.
If it had the better material it still would have came down just taking longer

4> don’t let reality interfere with your little fantasy but kindly keep it off a diamond forum. I rather suspect no one wants to hear it.

As they are designed to do. And, without conspiracy theories about it.

I will probably get my butt in a sling for saying this but I hate to say that I served 20 years in the U.S.Navy Submarine Service defending the likes of people like bacon who spit on the flag and vomit nonsense.

I suppose you would have let Hitler kill all of Europe while you sat on the sidelines and kept our military at home.
Bob Hoskins, U.S. NAVY RETIRED

There's really not much you can say to such absurd perspectives.

That was an interesting and informative article Lawgem, and Diamondbob -- no one should "put your butt in a sling" for being patriotic and serving our country -- regardless of politics. Thank you.

You are right. The original article belonged here since it concerned diamonds, but not the ensuing debate over the WTC.

As an aside, I was there 9/11. I had the blood and brains on my face.

I don't agree w/GWB that this was a cause to march into Iraq. He has a separate agenda. However I do support the troops that are taking the brunt of the death and distruction and honor the warriors.

However, I'd be much happier if there was no need for this action. Afghanistan was one thing. This something far different.

Yes Win, I agree that the original article belongs here, BUT then you decided to share your "ensuing debate" views. You should have stopped at your first sentence. This is after all a forum on diamonds.

Icelady...

I expect that leonid will relocate the thread.

I debated posting here since this is a diamond forum and have come back to read this over and over.

Bacon,
I DO have some truth for you. I choose to ignore most of your ranting, but would like to share this with you because you say you "support our troops"! Here's an e-mail I received from a service member who has just returned from being in Afghanistan for over a year. It was sent to him and he chose to share it with me. I have many friends in the military and can assure you they are proud of their accomplishments. Thank God we have these brave men and woman watching our backs and defending our rights – even the one which allows us to post on a forum and say anything we want.

CHEERS,

The Good News That Isn't Fit to Print
The following is an email message sent to all First Marine Air Wing and Marine
Wing Support Squadron 171 from LtCol Scot S. Seitz, Commanding Officer, on
Monday 1 Dec 03.
It's worth reading and sharing.

Marines and Sailors,

As we approach the end of the year, I think it is important to share a few thoughts about what you've accomplished directly, in some cases, and indirectly in many others. I am speaking about what the Bush Administration and each of you has contributed by wearing the uniform, because the fact that you wear the uniform contributes 100% to the capability of the nation to send a few onto the field to execute national policy. As you read about these achievements you are a part of, I would call your attention to 2 things :

1. This is good news that "hasn't been fit" to print or report on TV.

2. It is much easier to point out the errors a man makes when he makes the tough decisions, rarely is the positive as aggressively pursued.

Since President Bush declared an end to major combat on May 1 :

a) the first battalion of the new Iraqi Army has graduated and is on active duty.

b) over 60,000 Iraqis now provide security to their fellow citizens.

c) nearly all of Iraq's 400 courts are functioning.

d) the Iraqi judiciary is fully independent.

e) on Monday 6 Oct, power generation hit 4,518 megawatts = exceeding the prewar
average.

f) all 22 universities and 43 technical institutes and colleges are open,
as are nearly all primary and secondary schools.

g) by 1 Oct, Coalition forces had rehab-ed over 1,500 schools -> 500 more than
scheduled.

h) teachers earn 12 to 25 times their former salaries.

i) all 240 hospitals and more than 1,200 clinics are open.

j) doctors salaries are at least 8x what they were under Saddam.

k) pharmaceutical distribution has gone from essentially nothing
to 700 tons in May, to a current total of 12,000 tons.

l) the Coalition has helped administer over 22 million vaccinations to Iraq's children.

m) a Coalition program has cleared over 14,000 km of Iraq's 27,000 km of weed-
choked canals which now irrigate tens of thousands of farms. This project has
created jobs for more than 100,000 Iraqi men and women.

n) we have restored over 75% of prewar telephone services
and over 67% of the potable water production.

o) there are 4,900 full-service telephone connections.
We expect 50,000 by year-end.

p) the wheels of commerce are turning. From bicycles to satellite dishes to cars and trucks, businesses are coming to life in all major cities and towns.

q) 95% of all prewar bank customers have service
and first-time customers are opening accounts daily.

r) Iraqi banks are making loans to finance businesses.

s) the central bank is fully independent.

t) Iraq has one of the world's most growth-oriented investment and banking laws.

u) Iraq has a single, unified currency for the 1st X in 15 years.

v) satellite TV dishes are legal.

w) foreign journalists aren't on 10-day visas paying mandatory and extortionate fees to the Ministry of Information for "minders" and other government spies.

x) there is no Ministry of Information.

y) there are more than 170 newspapers.

z) you can buy satellite dishes on what seems like every street corner.

aa) foreign journalists (and everyone else) are free to come and go.

ab) a nation that had not one single element-legislative, judicial or executive-of a representative government, now does.

ac) in Baghdad alone, residents have selected 88 advisory councils. Baghdad's first democratic transfer of power in 35 years happened when the city council elected its new chairman.

ad) today in Iraq, chambers of commerce, business, school and professional
organizations are electing their leaders all over the country.

ae) 25 ministers, selected by the most representative governing body in Iraq's
history, run the day-to-day business of government.

af) the Iraqi government regularly participates in international events.
Since July, the Iraqi government has been represented in over two dozen
international meetings, including those of the UN General Assembly, the Arab
League, the World Bank and IMF and, today, the Islamic Conference Summit. The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs today announced that it is reopening over 30 Iraqi
embassies around the world.

ag) Shia religious festivals that were all but banned, aren't.

ah) for the first time in 35 years, in Karbala thousands of Shiites celebrate the pilgrimage of the 12th Imam.

ai) the Coalition has completed over 13,000 reconstruction projects, large and small, as part of a strategic plan for the reconstruction of Iraq.

aj) Uday and Qusay are dead ; and no longer feeding innocent Iraqis to the zoo lions, raping the young daughters of local leaders to force cooperation, torturing Iraq's soccer players for losing games, or murdering critics.

ak) children aren't imprisoned or murdered when their parents disagree with the
government.

al) political opponents aren't imprisoned, tortured, executed, maimed, or are forced to watch their families die for disagreeing with Saddam.

am) millions of longsuffering Iraqis no longer live in perpetual terror.

an) Saudis will hold municipal elections.

ao) Qatar is reforming education to give more choices to parents.

ap) Jordan is accelerating market economic reforms.

aq) the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded for the first time to an Iranian - a Muslim woman who speaks out with courage for human rights, for democracy and for peace.

ar) Saddam is gone.

as) Iraq is free.

at) President Bush has not faltered or failed.

au) Yet, little or none of this information has been published by the Press corps that prides itself on bringing you all the news that's important.

av) Iraq, under US-led control, has come further in 6 months than Germany did in 7 years or Japan did in 9 years following WWII. Military deaths from fanatic Nazi's and Japanese numbered in the thousands and continued for over 3 years after WWII victory was declared.

It took the US over 4 months to clear away the twin tower debris,
and substantially longer to even decide what to put up in it's place,
let alone attempt to start building something else...

Now, take into account that almost every Democrat leader in the House and Senate has fought President Bush on every aspect of his handling of this country's war and the post-war reconstruction, and that they continue to claim on a daily basis on national TV that this conflict has been a failure.

Taking everything into consideration, even the unfortunate loss of our brothers and sisters in this conflict, do you think anyone else in the world could have accomplished as much as the United States and the Bush administration in so short a period of time...?

These are things worth writing about. Get the word out. Write to someone you
think may be able to influence our Congress or the press to tell the story.

Above all, be proud that you are a part of this historical precedent.

God bless you all.

Semper Fidelis,

LtCol Scot S Seitz

So true!! Thank you for posting that, festivities! It's rare that we get to hear anything good about what our brave men and women are doing in Iraq.

And a sincere thank you to diamondbob! We owe a lot to people like you.
