Im debating between two diamonds, the specs are below:

diamond 1:
Color: h
Cut: ideal
carat weight: 0.74
clarity: if
hca rating: 0.6

diamond 2:
color: i
cut: ideal
carat weight: 0.78
clarity: if
hca rating 1.7

im kinda torn in between which one to go for one has a larger carat weight whilst the other one has the better color and a better hc rating.

would anyone let me know if hca ratings below 2.0 would matter in comparison like these? which one would be the better choice?

thanks!

One does not have a better HCA score than the other. The HCA is a screening tool and all scores under 2 mean the diamond is worth considering. Is there a reason that you need IF? Because color can be seen much more than IF. And if you like high clarity, VS1 and VVS will all be totally clean to the eye and pretty much with a loupe as well. I'd much rather go to G VVS2 or VS1 than have an I IF, personally.

(But if we had to choose between these two, we'd need all the measurements. Do you have pictures of the stones? Idealscope images?)

duly noted

the specs are as follows:
diamond 1
table: 56.3
depth: 60.9
crown: 34.3 degrees
pavilion: 40.6

diamond 2
table: 56.6
depth: 62.1
crown: 34.7 degrees
pavilion: 40.9 degrees

no idealscope as they're virtual selection on whiteflash and james allen

would request them after i made the choice tho!

I believe the second one is safer with the numbers. Usually with a crown angle in the low 34 range, it is better to see the pav. angle more up toward 41. I would have qualms with paying for IF in I color, though. I think you should go up in color if you want outstanding clarity. (But of course, I am just giving my personal opinion :)) )

is it because with such clarity you can see the color better?

no. because you can see differences in color with the naked eye, but to the naked eye there is no difference between IF and VS1 (and often VS2 and SI1). however if you want IF clarity there is nothing wrong with that, but you could go larger in size or higher in color by going down in clarity...everyone has their own individual preferences.

ah,

looks like its a long journey for me then

im planning to propose in april so i guess still have a bit of time to get the diamond...

thanks for taking me to school :D
