Two Asschers On Hold-Opinions?

I just ordered ASETs on these and will have the report by the end of the week. I thought it would be fun to post now, get opinions, then post the ASETs when they come in.
So far I know what my choice is, but it seemed more educational to compare a couple of options.
Any thoughts?

I would delete this post if I could. It seems obvious which is the better stone.

edited to include last comment

I can't say it seems obvious until I see the ASET images. Aren't these smaller than the one you had ordered before? I will tell you that one carat in an asscher is small unless you are setting it in a halo and even then, you can't really appreciate the patterning as much as you can in a larger asscher. My 1 ct asscher has a diameter at 5.51x5.58mm, so I think the 1 ct one faces up too small. And I think the other is just going to be too small, period. These also do not have wider corners like you wanted, so I am thinking you wouldn't be happy with them anyway.

Diamondseeker, hi.

The 0.90 was my original Asscher and I was planning to buy it back - I missed it-we've been through a lot together  It had a lot of light performance and I will be curious to see the ASET. If it is not all that I remember I will probably keep looking. I know you've recommended GOG to me before and I take that advice to heart.
The 1.0 was just for comparison - they suggested that I pick at least 2 so I have 2 different ASETS to look at.

Part of why I went larger was the influence of PSer's big bling. I thought - why not keep going up in size? This is fun! haha
But after I bought and wore the 1.55 Asscher for a few weeks, not only did it not totally speak to me, I found the size a bit cumbersome. I like to wear my rings all the time and I found it annoyingly got in the way when I was working.

AND, part of the issue is cost. I feel more comfortable spending around 5-6k for a ring and having several shapes than sinking it all in one stone. I like change.
For instance, the ACA I just bought is a 0.70 and it's perfect for me. Super performance, not terribly expensive and I'm just in love with it. With a few stackers- different ones every day- it's all the bling I need on that hand. I am best with simple and changeable.

I appreciate what you are saying - you are the good friend I've never met [a good friend is honest] and what you say resonates with me.

You are very sweet! I am just trying to present all the pros and cons! I do think the .90 is better than the 1 ct since it has a diameter almost as big (you do need to see the ASET, though, because you want the best possible cut in any size, but it will be important in a smaller stone). And since you have seen it before, then you know the size it is. I agree that well cut stones look beautiful in every size, and even though I did change my solitaire to a larger size, I wouldn't be able to wear the sizes that we see some people here wear. I chose to have some right hand rings with a smaller diamond or colored stones instead. So I get what you are saying totally! I guess my only qualm is the restrictive trade-in policy in case you ever did want to get a slightly larger asscher (or other cut altogether). With the ACA, you can change it easily because of the full upgrade policy. Just be careful, because this place has a tendency to do that to people over time!!! It took me a few years to get there, but I finally did go up in size on my round!

Here's what I'm up to now. :loopy: Since I can get up to three ASETs, I called JA back to have them report on a squareish 1.30, a shapely 1.21 and the 0.90. I picked them out myself so it'll be fun to see what info comes back. The "shapely" 1.2 has inclusions in the table, [but not sure that would bother me], so who knows, there might be something of interest.
I'm exploring and will post the ASETs when I get them.

Thanks for the warning... It's all so seductive.

For some reason these diamonds in the video are dirty! I hate that.

Honestly the one you had before was very attractive to me. The 1.21 looks like it could be very leaky.

I know - it makes newbies think there is something wrong with the diamonds - it took me a long time to understand the debris on the stones is just that. I've also been sent diamonds from vendors that were cloudy because they had not been cleaned before sending out. I don't get that either.

I don't know how to tell if a stone is leaky by looking at online photos!

They both have potential to be nice. But yeah.. what's up with the dirty diamonds?

I see both sides.
Super high resolution macro close ups of diamonds that are not flawlessly-clean are annoying and hard to understand.

But unless you try to produce such images you can never know how phenomenally difficult it is to get a diamond clean enough for this brutally merciless photography.

I'm sure! never thought about that part of the equation before.
