I found a steal on a Paloma Blanca dress online but I am nervous about buying something without trying it on first (even though its only last season''s dress and a pretty average size so I shouldn''t have trouble reselling if I don''t want to use it). The one I found is in my size and 1/4 of the original price. So I called around to the shops in my area that carry that designer and thankfully the one thats closest to me carries that sample!!

I am SO SO excited!!

The only sad thing is that I don''t have a SINGLE girlfriend (or even close male friend) in the area who can come lend their opinion but thats OK. If they let me take pics I''ll post them tomorrow evening.

Wish me luck on my first trip into bridal salon land as a bride!

Enjoy!! It''s so much fun!

Ya know, while it's fun to bring friends along, and they really appreciate being included, I am gonna throw in my 2 cents and tell you that you may be better off on your own anyway!

I brought one friend with me the 1st time I went dress shopping, then another the 2nd time. When I went back and looked at the pictures, NONE of the dresses were truly my style - but more theirs! They mean well, but they ended up having more influence on my choices than I thought.

I finally went to a 3rd place on my own, and tried on a bunch of dresses. I loved the ones I picked on my own so much better.

Have fun shopping and post some pictures for us!

Yay, have a great time! Looking forward to pics!

I tend to agree with you on this. It was hard to go shopping with my friend a few weeks and not try to talk her into dresses that I knew I would love. Oddly, in the end she bought a Paloma Blanca dress that I would totally wear myself. I''m glad she got to that decision on her own though without needing me to talk her into it.

I just told my mother about the dress and I was surprised to hear that she was excited for me instead of "You''ve only been engaged 2 weeks! Slow down already!" which is what I was really expecting. My mother is not into wedding stuff but shes doing a great job of being interested in mine.

I tried on the dress and a 10 fit me perfectly! Well, I might need it taken in a little but not enough to warrant a smaller size.

The style I tried on is Paloma Blanca 3808A. Its the 3808 with an A-line skirt instead of the one on the website with the pick-ups. I found it on e-bay for $375. The auction ended but the seller offered to relist it for me if I was interested.

The salon wouldn''t allow me to take pics so I don''t have any of me in it. I do tend to go for simpler dresses without too much embellishment or beading. The sweetheart neckline accentuated my chest well.

I think that if I do buy it I will keep looking in case I find something I can''t live without in my budget ($1000) or maybe I''ll be a two dress bride if I find another deal! I just don''t want to cheat myself out of the fun of trying on gowns with my girlfriends and mother.

What do you guys think? I''ll post pics from the ebay listing.

Detail of the front. I think that I''d change the sash and maybe make the neckline smooth instead of with the eyelash trim.

I think that I''d keep the pin for sure! I do like that, I''m just not a fan of the color of sash. I think I''d put on a satin one just for some contrast between the skirt and the sash. Right now the skirt and sash are dupioni silk.

Its very pretty...and what a great price! Congrats on finding a wonderful dress!

I think it''s beautiful!! What a steal on the price!

Well I decided not to purchase this dress. After looking around online some more there are so many other dresses I want to try on and if I purchase this one it will be looming over my head. If its meant to be I''ll get it in January/February when the eBay seller was intending to re-list if I didn''t want to purchase it now.

Thanks for the kind comments! I''m going to Klenfeld Bridal the weekend before Christmas with my mother and then another bridal salon in Rhode Island on December 23rd so I''m sure I will come back from the holidays with a plethora of photos to share!
