Try again: PS experts I need help! What do you think of these two diamonds?

My personal choice would be the second stone. I prefer a higher crown and smaller table (like the second stone). Do you have any pictures?

When you see them in person try to look at them in as many different lighting situations as possible. You are going to be the best judge since you
will be seeing them with your own eyes.

Look at some of the Whiteflash ACA stones pictures and videos. These are what well cut stones look like so this (IMO) is the look you are going for.
Some people like 60/60 stones like your first one but my preference is for the second stone. I wish you had some pictures. That would give us more
to go on.
WF stone for reference

Just to get an idea you can look at these 2 stones...GIA takes the average of the crown and pavilion angles then rounds so need to take that info consideration.

This stone has the same angles as the second stone you posted

Good luck! If you have any more info, please post!

Thanks so much for your post!

Question: I keep hearing about 60/60 cut... I don't quite get it when I read up on it, could you care to explain?

Wow what unsure, I appricate your help.
I'm also curious about the 60/60?

Also in terms of pricing would you say the second one would be worth $750-800 more or is the difference not that deep?

This is cut and paste from WF...

Bigger tables with shallower crowns, if appropriately proportioned and cut well, can deliver outstanding white light return, but at the expense of some fire. As the top gets flatter the diamond performs more like a mirror and less like a prism.
A 60 percent table with a shallow crown and less depth than is typically required by a bigger crown can potentially be “spready”. That is, the weight is spread out over a larger diameter allowing the diamond to be slightly bigger in terms of outer dimensions.

What is sacrificed?
  • As the table gets bigger, the surface area of the crown is diminished and crown facets become smaller. Since crown facets are instrumental in producing fire (colored sparkles), a 60/60 will usually not display as much fire as a well cut diamond with a fuller crown.
  • Diamonds with lower crown heights are not able to tolerate tilt angles as well. The unattractive “fish eye “effect where the girdle reflection is visible at a small degree of tilt is more of a concern in diamonds with larger tables/lower crowns.
  • The larger table facet will also throw bigger glare from a wider range of viewing angles. Glare will tend to conceal some of the positive aspects of light performance such as fire and scintillation.
  • To some extent, as the table size increases inclusions become easier to see as the camouflaging crown facets are reduced. Think of an emerald cut with its traditionally large table facet and how revealing it is in terms of clarity features.

The second stone is better cut and that is likely why the price is higher. I'd have to see magnified pics to see how I'd feel about that feather inclusion, though. Do you have some?

What's the price on the H?

The price for the first would be around $3500 including the setting, the second is about $4200.

Wow, are those prices in USD? Super expensive for a 70pt stone.. please look at the suggested above WF stone.. cheaper, whiter, cleaner, it's a no brainer.

Edit: or is the setting expensive? Can you post a pic of the setting?

The setting is a bit expensive I'm looking at a shared bead halo ring! Sorry don't have any pictures at the moment.

Ive thought about buying the diamond online, from one that was suggested, but I'm having a hard time finding a jewler who will pull of this setting in Toronto without me purchasing the diamond from them directly.

Why don't you just buy a similar setting from WF?

Oh is this Diamondboi? Why wouldn't the work with your own stone? The WF stone is just so much better. Also, I am not crazy about this design;
1. You can't even appreciate the split shank because it is under the head
2. For durability, I wound want shared prong with 2 prongs, not 1.

WF has an option like this:https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...a-split-halo-diamond-engagement-ring-4485.htm

But I would reach out to David Klass and ask him what he can do within your budget based on your inspiration ring. The WF stone (or another WF stone, you can go down to G/H to save some money) can be shipped to him, if you want custom work and he can ship the entire ring to you.

Yeah I think that's where I got the picture. I've heard that he doesn't work with loose diamonds. Could you explain more why you don't like the design, what would be better when it comes to a halo?
