Trilliant and Triangle shape Lenght and width

Kindly help me to understand the lenght and width aspect in trilliant shape. there are 3 sides of triangle. the biggest is considered to be a length and smallest to be a width ? or what exactly the logic behind calculation of lenght and width. in such shapes.
