My husband and I decided to upgrade my center stone. We started dating 13 years ago, were engaged 7 years ago and married 6 years ago - we didn''t have any money at the time and were trying to save for a house so we used a family diamond for the center stone and bought the setting ourselves. The family stone is .78 g/h vs2. It is a lovely diamond but I always felt that it was just a stand in for "our" diamond - not something that was ours. When I looked at it - I didn''t get that feeling that I am supposed to get - it didn''t make me think about "us". We decided that it was a good time to buy "our" diamond and started the process right after Thanksgiving. Well, after much deliberation, study on PS and looking at many, many, many stones - we found our stone. My local bench jeweler - who found us the stone - was able to use my existing setting that is so dear to my heart with a little work to the prongs to accommodate the larger stone. I love it - it is perfect for us and now when I look at my ring - it brings tears to my eyes. It is ours - represents us and our 13 years together (including dating). When we met, he was still in school getting his PhD - dirt poor and I never would have thought something like this was possible - and we did this...together and it means the world to me.
Of course - I could have never done this without you all and PS so thank you! So, the good stuff...the new stone is 1.21 H, SI1 with a great cut - checked the proportions here and had an excellent HCA. If anyone is interested I can post the specifics but I will have to go find the paperwork.
We turned the family diamond into a 3 prong pendant that I think looks really good - I will post pics of that also
Onto pictures:
