So I have been driving myself crazy the last couple months about what to set this AVC in! Now, totally out of right field, I am thinking about trading my AVC for an AVR :naughty:

I found an AVR that looks good to me but I need your opinions!

Here is the ASET
image_1549.jpg

I know the red is a good thing but what is the green circle in the middle of the stone? Is this bad?

image_1550.jpg

Now If I'm reading this correctly, this has a large feather....is this something to worry about? It seems kind of big to me...

My poor husband is going to lose it if I don't figure all this out soon! I don't want to waste money on a setting for the AVC if I'm going to want to trade it in for an AVR soon

Please help me!

AVR is as good as it gets for an OEC. Looks good to me.

OMG Crystal!!! That's my dream AVR! It is beautiful.

I am currently waiting to set a 2.07 M AVR, but my dream is a 3ct J-K AVR, and I have been staring at the 3.11 K thinking if only I had the money now!!

I think it's a fabulous stone. I won't talk about the ASET and will let the more experienced ladies chime in. All I know is what I read on the GOG website. But I think there's a video (?) somewhere where Jonathan compares different ASETs on a set of AVCs, and visually there's not much difference on how the stones perform. The 3.11 K looks magnificent in the video you linked.

I say if you love it, go for it! A fellow PS member recently told me that she went to GOG and saw the stones in person. Although she initially loved the AVCs, she liked the AVRs more in person. She described them as little cups of light! That made me feel really good cos I started off with a 1.11 AVC but ended up with an AVR cos the AVRs won me over in the videos.

Beautiful! :appl:

Yes, it is beautiful! I love my AVR and I wish I could feel comfortable wearing 3 cts!!! I had already seen the video before I saw your post. It is a gorgeous stone!

The sad thing is that I really love your AVC, too! It is going to tempt me again if it goes back into the inventory!

Thanks. The only thing I'm worried about is the feather. I can slightly see it in the video. It looks cloudy on one area in the pavilion. I'm worried if I can see it now then that's all I will see..

It looks beautiful Crystal. Did you ask Jon about your concerns about the feather? He will tell it to you straight. Don't worry.

And DiamondSeeker, of course you can wear a 3 plus carat AVR...you would rock it! :appl: I know you would!!!

No I haven't spoke with Jon. I really appreciate them making this video for me but I'm afraid if I can see it in this, it will drive me crazy in person. I think the problem is I saw Wintotty's thread and fell in love with hers

I prefer the facet pattern of hers....does that make sense?

I'm going to see if it's possible to look for another one :Up_to_something:

That stone is unbelievably beautiful. But if you can see it (the inclusion) now, and don't like it, you're not gonna like IRL, IMHO. That would be me anyway, if you're wearing it on your finger and constantly staring at on your finger. I would wait for one that you are at peace with. Don't feel rushed because that is when you don't make the best decision.

Crystal, that is funny because I thought your AVC had about the most perfect facet pattern I had seen! I seriously was sad to see that stone sold because I subconsciously hoped it would still be there in about 5 years when I could likely get another diamond! :twirl:

Unfortunately I am not comfortable with anything under VS2, so I hear your concerns about the AVR. But there is only one way to know, and that is to see it in person. I am sure there are many people who would be thrilled with it, because many here seek out SI stones to get more size for their budget. But those of us who like VS+ clarity sadly have to pay a premium to get it.

Seriously, if you loved your stone enough to buy it, I think you need to quit looking! I am serious in saying that I really think you have one of my favorite cuts of AVC's ever. Just keep it safe for me for about 5 years and then let me have first dibs at buying it from you at the trade-in value. I think that is an outstanding plan!!! :appl:  ;))

Hey that sounds like a good plan to me! lol

It's not that I have to have a VS per say...I just know if i can see ANYTHING at all it will bother me.

I am very serious that people should always offer their AV stones to PS people before they trade them in for upgrades. That way you still get every penny you paid for the stone (if it has been awhile so that prices have risen some), the buyer gets a good deal, and then when you buy the new stone, you start over with a 30 day return period and a new upgrade policy.

Seriously, your stone has the best cushion shape. I understand that people sometimes decide they want an AVR (I want both!), but you have a perfect AVC unless you don't like the color or something.

I totally agree with you!

I do love the shape of my cushion, that's the main reason I went with this specific one. Maybe part of the reason I was looking into trading was my being nervous of the color difference between it and the halo... Sometimes I think I will absolutely love it and then sometimes I think....what happens if I get it back and it looks weird to me. This is also going to sound horrible but I really value other peoples opinions too. If I were to get it back and someone said wow that looks weird it would REALLY bother me.

I do understand that and I really don't know the answer since we cannot gauge what others will think. I do usually recommend that guys not buy lower than J for mrb engagement rings for that reason. But I feel a little differently with antique style cuts. I think the big facets really make a difference so that the color is less concentrated. However, they are still tinted for sure at L-M-N color.

I have a picture of an M or N in a Tacori (? or maybe BK) setting. I think it belongs to Jon's wife. Most people have never seen a diamond remotely like an AVC, but I would think most people would just think they are beautiful. I wish I had more examples of lower color AVC's in halos. That would be helpful. But I think you have to embrace the color contrast if you want to set it in a halo.

Yes I think you are right about the facets I took it to a local jeweler to see it with the Tacori setting I was contemplating and the jeweler thought it was an H!

That stone looks a little darker than mine in that picture but then again mine changes color with every room I walk into...

Would you wear a ring with that color contrast?

I love that suggestion DS. That's win-win!

And Crystal, your cushion does have the best shape and faceting. I want one of each too. Unless you really do not want the AVC, I think its a great one to hang on to. Enjoy it for a few years and I think there will be a line of people waiting to get it from you. I will go after DS :wavey:

Yes, but I would be buying it as a second diamond as my AVR is I color. Jon's wife does wear hers as a primary e-ring, though. And she can obviously choose any color she wants! She went with large size and lower color.

The rectangular stone on top in this pic is an M. Is yours this color? I think it is pretty.

Oh ok that's kind of cool to know!

Yes mine is an M. Most of the time it looks like a champagne color. Outside it looks really white. However in my dining room it looks like a lemon LOL. Maybe its the curtains
