So the DH and I have differing opinions on the trade-up policies for some of the internet vendors. Can you clue me in? And...spell it out!

If I purchase a diamond for $5000.00 and I want to trade it in to get a bigger and better diamond...What is the trade-up policy?

It completely depends on the vendor, and you should ask each one that you're seriously considering doing business with. The place we bought my stone (this was before I found PS) had an 80% back policy, meaning if I spent $5000 on the stone, when I traded it in for an upgrade, I would only get a $4000 credit towards the upgrade. I would search for a place that does 100% of the purchase price for trade up, if possible. It's better not to lose any money if you can help it!!!

Here is the scenario: Ring purchased @ $5000.00, trade-up policy gives 100%, but must spend double the original purchase amount.

How can I put this?

One of us thinks the "double" means, you would only need to spend 10K. The other thinks it means you would need to spend 15K.

Who''s confused?

I may not be a scholar, but when it comes to diamonds...move over and let me drive! I have officially been infected with the PS bug!

you don''t have to spend double, most e-vendors here will do a trade-up for few hundred dollars difference.

Yes, it all depends on the vendor. Some have better policies than others, you need to ask, it''s that easy!!
