Has anyone done a trade-up or upgrade with any online dealers? Well I just did with Superbcert and was surprised how easy the process was. My fiancee and I decided to upgrade her SC 1.20 princess for a SC 1.5 H & A round so we contacted Barry to see how this process works. He said to send the diamond back so he can make sure there is no problems with it and he will send me the new one. The whole process after he received the diamond took 2 days to get to my front door.

The only problem that anyone would run accross in the upgrade process with any online dealer is how to ship it back to them. Had to call UPS, Fedex, Airborne (DHL), and USPS. Seems the best way to send diamonds back with insurance and reliabilty is with USPS registered priority which insures up to $25,000.

Post if anyone has done an upgrade and tell us how the experience was.

Up to a certain point you can use UPSP Express mail to ship a diamond. You can ship a finished ring or piece of jewelry set with diamonds via UPS overnight with full coverage, but you can't send unset diamonds via UPS...Just a crazy rule.
USPS Registered Mail is slow but very safe. It is also a good value.

Upgrading with a willing seller/vendor is certainly a great feature. Many won't do it, so a list of those who are willing would be an excellent source of info for people.

We've upgraded twice with GOG. Both times the hardest part was waiting for our USPS Registered Mail package to get there! It can be a very slow mail service, but it is also very safe.

The rest was easy. Once GOG had our old diamond and the payment for the difference in cost between the old and new we had the new one within a few days.

That's so great that it was easy. If I ever want to upgrade my diamond I have to spend double. Sort of sad to think I have to shell out that much again, but I really think it would cost almost double anyway to upgrade to anything around 1.5. I just wish I would have bought online through one of the vendors. I could have gotten a 1.25 ct instead of a 1.08 for about the same price. Maybe even larger if I would have dropped to an SI1. Oh well, you live and learn. The great thing is I ended up with a geourgous stone that I love!
