Out of the rings I have seen I really like the Mark Morrell Torchiere. I would like to get a diamond around 1.20ct and $6000. Does anyone have any recommendations on color, clarity, and what would be the best value for my $6000?

Hello Gravel, I can''t advise you on a stone but I''m sure there are some of our more experience posters who will have some ideas. My favorite cut is an antique or antique style cushion (squared stone with rounded corners) and I am loving the new ones that Jonathan at Good Old Gold is calling "Signature Cushions". The sparkle is amazing and the price is reasonable but it is a bit of a specialty cut.

I did want to say that I absolutely love the Torchiere. Such a classic, gorgeous piece of artwork.

Happy hunting!

try for SI1 SI2 clarity H I or even J will get you around your carat weight, I found a few on Whiteflash''s site, I''m sure thare plenty more out there. Check out the home page and do a search for diamonds, you''ll find plenty that will be good performer.

GOG carries MM's setting.
Only the Flame.

Try Brian Gavin Diamond's aswell. They sell beautiful H&A diamonds. Personally I would have no problem going forJ colour since BGD are so well cut and round diamonds don't tend to show as much colour as step cuts.

Thanks for all the help so far.

How about the following, gravel:

The guy I work with at Solomon Brothers is awesome and would be able to look at the diamonds for you if they have it in the store and tell you more about it.

There are all EGL, but all hearts and arrows. The grading on the color may be soft, so if it says H--it could actually be more of an I color or at the worse a J color.

There are other choices, but I wasn''t able to pull up the EGL report to show you so you''ll have to use their diamond search engine and personally or contact someone from there to get it to you. I''m very happy with the guy my FI worked with from there and his name is Ron Plunkett. He was awesome, that''s why my brother, cousin, and my FI''s best friend all bought their diamonds from there. Hope this helps and good luck!

The cert looks good. But can they provide you with magnified images of the stone so you can see the inclusions? I wouldn''t buy an SI1 without knowing that it is totally eyeclean from the top AND sides. It would be good if they could send you the IdealScope image as well.
